The rest of the records from . Most of it is to sell. 30 boxes. I broke the collection into 2 boxes of tippidy top shelf. 10 top shelf. 4 middles. 14 for the local record shop (not bad stuff, but not good enough for ebay effort.) Come back for the popcorn after dinner. These are stuff I'm listening to and or keeping that I need or could mint up:

Be very clear friends, I'm just telling the story of my finds. I like to show everything. This is not about flossing. Seriously. If I really wanted to floss some jazz records, I would. And bitchass hatters from McDizney Sprawlville to Filthydelphia would shut the fuck up so quick. Anyhow...
I like jazz. And this was a comprehensive jazz collection.
I've gotten to this weird point where I'm curious about some otherwise common titles. Shit I keep or listen to is either dumb dollar bin or retarded rare. Seems like I have all the other stuff in between. I guess I get a kick out of finally sitting through a George Benson on CTI and liking it? Craziness. Like I said, this is stuff I pulled aside to listen to, and since I posted those pictures, I've tossed some of those titles. This is all about learning for me. That includes learning about common titles that I've passed for years. I enjoy that. Sorry.
I'm slowly going through the nicer stuff. It takes time cleaning and comparing with what I already have. It's a lot of work for a few records. Ten years ago I would have shit my pants if I found boxes and and boxes of Coltrane, Shepp, Sun Ra, Ornette etc. But now I have all that and maybe will get to Mono up some titles. But I'm really just trying to double my money and scoop a couple of free records. I mismeasured though. Looks like I'll probably quadruple my money and also end up with come slammin' Jaco promo 12 inchers. Oh, I suck.
How's that John Dankworth?
haven't heard it yet.
pulled it because i'm a huge Lucky Thompson fan and he's a featured soloist.
you're right jonny. fuck these bamas.
as much as i love the stories...deleted
the Dankworth is nice for sure , I remember listening to 'Cancer' which is my astrological sign and identifying with it the most , so I guess they knew what they were doing when they recorded the LP! (they do one song for each sign of the zodiac)
I want everyone to know that I was getting our Christmas tree when Fatback called to tell me the news. I immediately asked my wife when we can make it down to Richmond to visit Mr and Mrs Fatback!
naaaw, you got me all wrong, superfats. ive been loving the pics and have been eager to hear more about your haul since you mentioned it last week. im all smiles at that kindof news with no hatt in my heart. when you mention tippidity top shelf crates, i get even more excite, jus tthinking of the viewing pleasure to come .
but if youre all exhilirated and shit and i fit into your fuck these bamas category, we can do this and i'll drop two jazz crate sized fists on your bowlcut.
now plaese to post more pics and if you find a copy of sister byrdie, holler at your filthydelphian cause i need that shit!
i think i just came full circle with jazz records. like, what the hell is tippidy top? grover washington jr. never sounded so good. it's hard to explain. my shelves are fucked up. between mold spores and back pain, i'm way off. i'm no record dealer, but sort of got myself in way over my normal record flipping mode. not to mention, the gas facefrom pregnant Ms Fatback when I rolled up with 5000+ records the other day.
i will never diss the non rare records.most people seem to equate tippidy top with big $$ joints, so i was wondering if we had some pics in store of nodlews and nessas.
i just got the shirley scott LP you posted and am feeling mystic lady like what.
and dang, you got your girl pregnant????!!?!?!
congratulations
You need to take a break and get out of that full circle!!! Grover washington jr. is fit for man nor beast. Nor pregnant wife for that matter.
Have you already mastered Localising? Really nice find...
Here's a semi-random grab from one of the doubles boxes I made:
Some from the sealed box:
(I can't really tell if the Dylan has the poster. Is it this one? Or vol2? Can you tell by cat#? I love that poster.)
Anyways...I'm off to buy some sheetrock to fix my master bath ceiling. Fuck records.
Here's what I found this morning
Black Roots - The Front Line
Bobby Bland - Twenty Four Hour Blues
Jerry Butler - Aware Of Love (not pictured)
Bill Cosby - Little Ole Man
The Dramatics - Choosing Up On You
Fatback Band - Keep On Steppin'
Tommy James - I Think We're Alone Now
Herbie Mann - Unchain My Heart
Ron Moody & The Centaurs - The New Breed
Junior Parker & Jimmy McGriff - Pretty Baby
Linda Perry & Soul Express Eddie Billups - I Need Someone
Rufus - Dance Wit Me
Merrilee Rush - Everything Has Got To Be Free
Tower Of Power - Soul Vaccination
Tower Of Power - Clean Slate
Fred Wesley & The JBs - If You Don't Get It The First Time
It's Volume 1 - and some but not all of the even later pressings,
like early-mid 70's, have the poster...we got a couple sealed copies
in once with stickers on the cover for the poster but the 70's label
and thinner pressing LP inside - and the poster was a little slicker,
too...the OG poster is on flat finish paper.
what with the holidays and all...still, I
did manage to find a few interesting things:
The Little Boy Blues I got for 99 cents buy-it-now on eBay.
It was graded poor, and has a bunch of marks, but is glossy
and plays fine with some noise, 1 or 2 pops. Cover is perfect.
