By Friday evening, somebody had already been ejected for punching someone else in the face.Record grip madness, big thanks to PGunn andSmall Change for the dealer pass to help me beatthe rush (I still gave FMU the $20) and I was ableto dig relatively peacefully for a couple hours onFriday afternoon.Saturday had me waiting in line for crates, but Iwas pretty mellow by then, already having lotsof good shit secured, and stayed casual, landingmost of the best albums of the weekend at an easy pace.Got to meet a few Strutters, but only for a minute apiece,Drewn, Marco...saw JP a couple times, Spiv and my man Dinosthe Greek Garage God from Boston. FineWine killed it on hislive radio set, and another shout to the hommie P-Gunn for hiscrib and knowledge of Peruvian rotisserie chicken joints inQueens, as well as 3AM taco madness, no ayo. Next time I will drink with more Strutters, that was my biggest failure of the entire weekend. TOO MUCH GRIP NOT ENOUGH SIP Thee Fynds:The beauty is how much of this stuff is minty - Dizzy, Lee Hazlewood,Jerry Washington, Erma, Mauds, Odell, Brummels, Freakout, Williams/Watson and Bob & Earl are almost all unplayed and mostly in shrinkwrap. Keeper copies all over the place. That Brummels album is fantastic, and Jerry Washington was a loooongtime white whale.I got a few 45's, too - around 60:And this bad boy, which I had been after for years:A bunch of this stuff was not FMU but GRNYC, word to Ralph onthe trades and having that real schitt. Check out that Moon Pie pizza, JP.

just to show off my shit, all y'all who were at
FMU let's see some record porn[/b] and hear your stories
of wax spotted and alcohol consumed!!
I had a plumber's crack sighting nightmare but no camera
onhand to subject you all to the torture...I liked the husband & wife
dealer team that had all the soul 45's & LP's in boxes marked either
"50% off" or "30% off" - when I was paying dude kept asking me "where's my
coke? you didn't bring me a coke??"
story please
looks like you got some nice joints! tht jorge ben is thorough
fishfight?

i just rediscovered this while cleaning my storage a couple weeks back. i like this album a lot.
Judging from the look on Jerry's face on that album cover, right under "Right Here Is Where You Belong" it probably should read "...And If You Even THINK About Trying To Leave Again I Will Kill Yo Ass".
that face with this text is a graemlin waiting to happen
that Latin Bros 45 is some vibraslap-happy seriousness.
That was mad fun, thanks again for letting us hang out! WFMU was a trip, struck some deals on Sunday and stayed on budget.
The Texans the New Yorkers know how nto put on a record show.
Here in LA we had the PCC Swap/ record show which was pure ass. Looks like record porn of rdays at these spots.
Hoping to one day be up there playing with the big boys.
More finds pics plaese (delay, JP, coffinJoe, etc)
For real, hanging afterwards with paycheck and crew was mad fun. It was really good to meet you and Dante and mahssa (sp?) that night listening to finds etc. Dante, those "desperate" tunes you played us were ill, thanks for enlightening.
My two finds were Ebb Tide "It Takes Love To Make Love" 12", and South Bronx "Bottom Line".
I didn't dig too hard, I Just kind of went to check the scene and see what all the hoopla was about on a Friday ya know? Well it turns out that the hoopla = Record Licking Man, Dealer Beef, $3,600 sike records from crossdressers, and Ventriliquist Sections.
Not heat per se, but a nice bouncy highlife record with cool mono-phonic snyths soloing and funny lyrics about the supernatural powers of Palm Wine. As one who has partaken in this homegrown West African specialty, I can fully corroborate it's unique ability to instill the blotto. For the $2 it cost me, I'm happy.
not bad for $30...i mean, it sometimes goes higher on ebay, sometimes less, but at wfmu you'd expect people to ask $100.
i know, not a big find but i love this song and was happy to find the 12" for a dollar.
such a classic...and pretty blue vinyl helps. mint for $10
$3 on vg+ to nm- copy isn't bad...i never see this record anymore these days.
another classic and tough to find on 12"...stone mint for $10.
Who had that?!
And the inevitable:
By the way, D - I got my Jerry Washington from
the guy who had your Willie Dynamite...and the Willie D
was bought by another Strutter, steppin on yer toes!
I would never betray his confidence and tell you that
it was Spiv, though...
I'm actually glad somebody copped that Willy D. In retrospect $75 wasn't asking too much. But, I lost interest in much else after pulling the Lee Moses...you should have seen me cheesing...
I saw Drew with that Lee Moses and then I didn't see him at all after that! I was hoping we'd get him down to the shop for the afterparty but I think he went to the hotel with that Lee Moses... and, well... I'll leave the rest for a more accomplished writer of erotic digger fiction.
Ha! I was feeling pretty bad that I didn't get together
with Drew after meeting up for that one minute intro...
now I realize it that at least it wasn't personal...
he'd just rather be alone with Lee Moses
Finds:
Sugar Hill -- That's Love/Slow Down
Nina Simone - Save Me
LOTUG - Psycho promo with a couple of remixes...don't ask me why I bought it
George Scott - Find Someone to Love. The highlight.
Shuggie Otis -Inspiration Information
Karisma w/ Jocelyn Brown - Got You Dancing
Terry Callier - Occasional Rain
East Coast - The Rock on Family Records...kinda beat, but still plays
3-D - Crushin & Bussin
Freak L - Line for Line
Sirocalot - Sirocalot
Pee Wee Mel - Badd You Got It
Roy Meriwether - LIve on Stinger. Eh, I'll probably sell it.
That's it. I guess the good thing is that I didn't spend as much as I thought I would.
Overall I had a great time out there. I didn't spend too much time at FMU but New York was poppin' all weekend with things to do. I had a blast Saturday at APT...glad to see/hear Dante rep for Chicago I also would like to say Delay is the homey, very nice to meet you man.
bought the latest itch from billy
