I don't get it. Dude has some decent stencil skills but I'm surprised there aren't 50 more copycats doing exactly what he's been doing recently. Then again, groups like Negativeland and others have been subversive in similar ways without all the uproar for years. Yawn.

Upon further analysis, we are living in an age where irony and subversion are already heavily co-opted by corporations and sold back to the youth. Shepard Fairey and Giant/Obey were gunning hard for years, even at Sprite and "Obey your thirst."
Now Sprite is campaigning as "Obey," taking a cue from Shepard. Another example would be the skate punk hip hoppers known as the Neptunes doing work with Nike, HP, and even Bathing Ape (easily the nowadays "Old Navy" of Japan). Even the Wolfpack myspace phenomenon and the Vans song getting Vans back into kids's back to school budgets and onto MTV jams. In-fukin-credible. Chicken noodle soup, too.
The times are a changing and rapidly. The phase shift is almost complete.
Warhol was the Henry Ford of this schitt. Deal.

Seriously though, if selling some overpriced stuff to Brad Pitt makes it easier for him to paint in the Gaza Strip, good on him. You seriously can't hate on the guy cause he's taken it to another level, and I'm sure any of the past masters would respect his work.
Or should all artists die in obscurity and poverty before being recognised as talented?
Sure, I think the original intent of this thraed is just to point out this dude gets a high flying post every week. He isn't quite Basquiat, Warhol, James Brown, or Diddy-status yet though, lol.
