  • soulseek has alot of dope stuff but the search function is nowhere as good as it used to be plus the users who have that shit youve been fiending to peep are always the type to ban you with the quickness for no reason. Also alot of broken english mufuckers like to message you and talk about nothing.

I haven't used soulseek for time, (too many idiots and Japanese asking you to identify 10 second clips from some b-boy break mix tape.) there used to be a soulstrut room, dunno if its still there?
Just right click on the rooms list, select creat room, type in soulstrut and you should find some fellow strut people in there.

  • I use it and only block people who don't have anything to share as well.

i usta get blocked alot. but when every i gank more than one album from someone i always throw a curtis-cee "yo nice collection" message.

    never gotten blocked since.

  • Configuring your port settings dramatically increases your search results, but sometimes it struggles anyway.

  • people who don't wanna share with EVERYONE just need to do this:

share with people on your list only... and add everyone you download from to your list and keep them there. don't be a dick and take them off as soon as your download is done.

just one way to never get banned and never get leeched off of excessively.

Plaese to explain how to configure your port. Thank you.

Plaese to explain how to configure your port. Thank you.

In soulseek, go to options, general options, click on the "test firewall and router settings" box. That will tell you whether or not your port settings are correct. If it says something about your ports being closed, then you need to change the settings on your router in order to open up your ports. For me, this means signing into my linksys page and adding the port shown in the general options box of soulseek. For linksys router users this is found under the "applications and gaming" tab. Type the port number in both the start and end boxes and type in the remaining digits of the IP address for the computer you are running soulseek on. Click the enable box and save your settings. Try clicking on the "test firewall and router settings" in soulseek again to see if it worked.
I don't really know enough to tell you how to do it with other routers. Maybe someone else can expand on my explanation.

  • Soulseek doesn't work on macs right?

There is a Soulseek client for Macs... Google for: SSX Mac Nicotine

As a PC user I have no reviews of whether they work or not.
