Uh, that's the nature of iTunes. Your boy should have sent you MP3s not purchased via iTunes but yeah man, iTunes is proprietary with their stuff very stringently.

this sucks cuz now it says the passworld he gave me was authorized by 5 computers already and he has to deauthorize one in order to make mine work haha

While this won't fix your problem I thought some people reading this thread might find this useful. This utility called OurTunes grabs music from iTunes shares instead of streaming it. It is open source and free, plus really small since it is written in java.
