So I have files saved as .rm (realaudio) and I'd like to convert them to .mp3 for enjoyment on the iPod. Can anyone recommend a good free or nearly free application for doing this in mac OS-X. I've used Cooledit/Audition for this but alas that's windows only.

I use audio hijack pro. The only drawback is you have to record in real-time, and if you don't purchase the licensed version you can only record 10 minutes before the program lays static over the recording. Still, very handy.

Thanks to everyone for suggestions and software. In case anybody is wondering, here is what I ended up doing--it requires a little bit of UNIX trickery but once it's set up you can really rip through a large group of files (without having to rip the stream in real time)
