Legend has it that the buyer actually thought he was bidding on the London Bridge (i.e. Tower Bridge), Miss Fergie was referring to. He was thus a bit disappointed to learn the bridge he recieived was not quite what he expected.
I doubt it is true, but it fits the bill when us Brits are looking to get snooty about aour American cousins.
