look at her dance'Rong Cheng', a newly-created robot, sits on display at the Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing August 7, 2006. Rong Cheng, dubbed as the first Chinese 'beauty' robot, is able to respond to some 1,000 Chinese words. She can dance, bow and greet people in the Sichuan dialect as she is destined for the Sichuan Science Museum to serve as a receptionist. The robot costs about 300,000 yuan (US$37,500) to make, according to Xinhua News. REUTERS/Claro Cortes IV (CHINA)

Trying to make robots "human looking"
Shit is just way too creepy, what's up with that chalky pale skin colour?
i'm really fearing the day that the "fully poseable" robotic "girlfriend" comes out. That can't be far behind.
Willard, pictured below, is a roboreceptionist/helper in the Dallas Police Department.
what about making them look have human half machine
Technically this is not a robot but an android.
An android is an anthropomorphic robot - i.e. a robot that looks like a human.
This is a good look.
Now if only they could make really amazing, revolutionary electro music.
oh... but they do:
what's the difference between an android and a cyborg?
I think a cyborg is like half human half robot.
I can't believe I know this, and my "knowledge" comes straight
from comic books, but an android is a completely artificial
human, while a cyborg is a human who is enhanced with technology,
or so forth. I think even an otherwise fully mechanical being that contained
a human brain would still be a cyborg.
so ian holm in alien= android
creepiest android scene on celluloid evar
oh shit I forgot about daryl that shit ruled. I need to watch that shit and the explorers again
Yea, that's pretty damn creepy. And human interaction is becoming even more scarce.
Random question: How long will the human species live for?
I'd say if other animals on planet earth can go extinct under changing ecological conditions, i'd say humans are just as vulnerable too.
