Sounds like Anita Baker jamming with Sade's band... does her CD come with free "Grown & Sexy" and "I (heart) The Quiet Storm" bumper stickers?

Naw, she sang with Incognito. 90's fly schitt. I just heard one of her songs on this porno I was watching and it made me want to give her some appreciation. It also made me wanna shoulder lean in dis bitch, but I fought the temptation.

I really liked the Incognito version
of Don't You Worry Bout A Thing
    from early 90's. Haven't listened
to it for nearly a decade. But i'm gonna dig it
out later today and give it a spin.
See if it stands the test of time. I know her vocals
    will. SO SWEET.

"If You Want My Love" was my SCHITT by Incognito. What up Ironfeet!

  • I picked up her LP, All My Life, in 2000. Good quality music.

If you are dead tired of modern pop soul music, this will tantalize your tastebuds.

She's a great singer. You have to go looking for her shit over here, though, because her albums tend to come out on indies these days. I got this one 12" by her, "What About Our Love" on GRP, which has a remix over the "Crooklyn" beat - it's nice.

Great singer, still touring with Incognito. Was a privilege to watch the band's 25th Anniversary gig a couple of years ago, with strings and Jocelyn Brown and Maysa ripping up "Nights Over Egypt".

Realheadz will also know she's been singing her tail off for Baltimore homeys Grainger (rhythm section!!!) for years and covered Donald Fagen's "I.G.Y."... and GSH's "The Bottle" with aplomb.

No massively keen on the new set. She does "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" which is always going to be hard to follow. Foll choice. Hard to sing it like you wrote it, a la the Roberta riginaal. I wouldn't test, even if I could sing.

Rumor has it she will be on a "Revenge of the underground divas" tour featuring Ledisi amongst others. Teh m3ltz0r / ZZZzzzfest depending on whether you are on the level of course.

  • I've picked up on a lot of "grown & sexy" music through the shop I work at and Incognito and Maysa are one of my favorites.

I worked the most recent Incognito show for the shop doing a meet and greet/autograph signing with Maysa and besides being a talented vocalist, she's one of the sweetest people I've ever met. Her and my girlfriend got along fabulously and Maysa was real genuine and down to earth, taking time to talk to everyone in line.
