this is kinda like watching trany porn cause they are represses
"This is my BLUE NOTE RECORDS vinyl collection. Most comments i get on YouTube concerning my collection are about re-issues. Some are, some arent. This is not the point. It's like telling me what my collection is worth in dollars, i dont care ! I listen to my records, i'm a Jazz fan. I am not some collector geek. I am a record dealer. I've been working in record stores for the last 12 years. This is not my jazz collection, it's my BLUE NOTE collection. I have way more jazz albums than this. I have sold tons of great records to my loyal customers in Montreal working for Beatnick. I am a sincere Blue Note collector and i love to promote jazz."

You can tell this person doesn't care too much about records hence the throwing of them around!
I think the video is pretty pointless, but I don't see the problem with owning reissues of Blue Note albums.
Am I supposed to wait until I find an OG of Lee Morgan's "Candy" to listen to it on wax?
I don't see the point in buying reissues on vinyl. Not saying I don't have my own share of reissues but as of late I've decided to stop buying them and just get them on CD. I might even get an iTunes account. I'm starting to care less about the format and more about sound quality and accessibility.
I know this guy. He knows his music & he put me up on stuff when I was a kid. His boss' collection is mega & all og. Haven't been by that store in a while because all they sell are re-issues.
Whoops - mistaken identity. I do recognize that guy, though.

But do you see the problem with flossing them?
I don't think he was flossing his records in a "look at my rare collectibles" way so much as "look at all this good jazz" ... like I said, I found filming it pretty pointless, but everyone getting all smug over his owning reissues is just as pointless, IMO.
I don't see the point in buying reissues on vinyl.
Hmmm...well, I see a difference between some Scorpio-boot of the braek of the week, and an authorized quality repress of an album whose OG is hard to find or particularly expensive. I like the sound of vinyl better than CD's or MP3's. The Blue Note represses of the 90's were quality RVG presses, and sound as good or better than any CD you can find.
I question his depth; he???s missing some key titles for a "sincere Blue Note collector." If he doesn't care about buying re-issues, then he should at least have an entire run of them.

I totally agree. And Blue Note is a particularly good example of just how grey an area "collection reissues" is. Most people here on SS who talk about not buying reissues don't seem to even begin to understand the multitude of presings that exist for 95% of all albums - and what bugs me is that they don't seem to care to learn. There is just a dumb -"ewww, it was pressed in the 90's" attitude.

That said, that dude and his vidoe are retarded.
True. I buy Every damn Blue Note title I am after regardless of pressing. They are legit, sound great and this goes without saying, the music is amazing. I even get them autographed, to some it might seem dumb to have a reissue autographed, but I dont care. I also have a buttload of the CD reissues also...I was lucky, about 10 years ago the Borders in Fort Worth had a Blue Note trivia contest and the grand prize was a 50 Blue Note CDs of the winner's choice...I won and I stocked up with CD raers...the limited edition reissues(the ones with the white trays) were only around for a minute and the vinyl reissues not as long as that.
Shit, I even buy the fantasy 80s reissues of prestige, New Jazz, Contemporary, riverside, etc titles. I dont think I am gonna find a sealed Wally Richardson "Soul Guru" for 8 bucks anytime soon.
But outside of talking shit about them on SS, I wouldnt make a video of them for you tube.

K.
Sounds like a waste of 12 years.

Shit, there are so many pressings of Blue Note albums as it is!
Is it really that much cooler to own a West 63rd press of Moanin'
than a New York, New York pressing?
Wait - don't answer that, I already know the answer
But do you see the problem with flossing them?
Dude should at least be playing some music in the background.

you know you're just getting horrible compressed mp3s from there, right?

This looks like where Luke Skyywalker got his album traxx title names from.
