Really really really good.
1) I'm home! And I really mean I'm home. I've been in limbo, traveling for the past I DON'T KNOW how long, but aside from a quick trip to Denver on Wednesday, I'm here in Brooklyn for the summer. I've missed reality so much it hurts.
2) Quit smoking. Well, I'll be the first to admit that I fell off the wagon a few days ago when I was all drunk in The Bay, drinking tequila with "the dudes" but like it's the type of thing where, before if I fell off the wagon I stayed off that motherfucker. Now, I really have a deep desire to stop. And it really seems easy to me. Like it's a way that I feel about myself, as if though I have passed through a threshold and am now ready to live another chapter. Don't know if that makes sense. I'll just have to watch out for the weight gain, which I'm already a little susceptible to.
3) Summer in Brooklyn. Dudes, I cannot say this enough. For those who know, you know. Lord have mercy. Paradise indeed.
4) My new Burton Cap Caddy. Shit is so dope. I'm all Burtoned/Gravised out these days. Fuck yeah. Cases liek a motherfucker.
5) On this last trip I copped mad "wants/needs" on both the vinyl and MP3 tip. Lot to be said about crossing wants off your list, virtual or otherwise.
Not really really really good.
1) Bills bills bills. Less travel means less $$$ and I'm the sole breadwinner in my family currently. Shit kinda sucks.
2) Sprint. They really do suck on EVERY LEVEL. Can't get into it but trust me that they do.

how so? i always wanted to use it to record shows but i never got around to it. there are these binaural microphones that look like earphones that would perfect for recording live shows, especially when i go to see somebody like ornette or cecil taylor perform
1) I finally have a job, that pays well, and doesn't make me feel like shit.
2) I've got a new apt. as of July 1, and its great location, low rent and 'cozy'
3) Big party Friday where I get to chill w some folks I haven't seen since High School. This could potentially be in the '5 down' category but i'm being optimistic.
4) I started running a mile a day and it makes me feel good.
5) Music, just in general.

1) Work is kicking my ass. I'm contracting for the company that laid me off a couple years ago, only now I'm doing my old job, my old co-worker's job (she split to another company a couple weeks ago), and my old boss's job (she went on maternity leave and decided not to come back), so it's a good thing that as a contractor, I don't get any benefits whatsoever to compensate for all this extra work!
2) Basketball is almost over, which means I'm about to enter the interminable stretch where goddamn fucking baseball takes over. I can't stand baseball.
3) Rappers flaking on studio sessions...
4) There's too much furniture in my apartment, and not all of it is mine.
5) Far too much death and crime and bad juju surrounding some people close to me.

BAD 1. I'm cooped up working indoors and can't enjoy it thoroughly.
BAD 2. The weather took a rare turn for the worse over the weekend and Minneapolis had some flash flooding. Friends down the street saw trees fall over and smash cars. I came home Friday night to see my kitchen sink had backed up. Delicious!
GOOD 2. Checks are on their way which I will immediately turn over to Apple for a new laptop.
BAD 3. One of these checks is for a design job that I revised many many many times. The client seemed to have a fairly clear idea of what he wanted and we both ended up being really happy with the finished design. I passed it off to the client, who passed it off to a printer / manufacturer, who produced the final product. I just saw photos of the finished product and ... wow... they FUCKED IT UP. Like, really fucked it up to the point that I can't even put it in my portfolio.
GOOD 3. DJing a lot.
BAD 4. Why do so many hippies like to dance so weirdly when I play records?
GOOD 4. Hangin with friends a lot.
GOOD 5. We're *this* close to finding a new office space and I'm beyond ready to get out of this shite-hole.

cosign. Minidiscs are great. I only use them for interviews these days (music is for the iPod) but not only can you now store hours upon hours of interviews on a single disc but 1) you can now upload them back to your computer at 4-5x speed (not that zippy but sure beats real time) and 2) you can store computer data on those 1GB HiMD discs which is nice for those of us who still think removable media has a purpose in the world.
By the way, I thought a serpent with legs = lizard more or less?
1) My work team is back from vacation so I'm way less stressed than last week.
2) I 3 Summer and having a pool.
3) Had an awesome weekend with friends and their families for a grad school graduation party. Parents love me.
4) Just paid my last car payment. Time to upgrade.
5) Selling more records than I'm buying. More money and space is quite nice right now.
