Faded & Jaded / My Music Vs. Yours

Arguing about how one style of music is better than another is the ultimate "Little Dude" move.Every genre of music has some great stuff and some very lame stuff.I feel sorry for people who ONLY listen to one style of music, it must get very boring.Back in the 80's I had a conversation with one of the top Psych dealers who had spent 10 years listening to every damn psych record ever made. Nothing but psych 24/7. And then in the middle of this particular conversation he started to rant about this GREAT LP he had discovered. How new and fresh sounding it was and how it blew all Psych music away. He was talking about none other than KC & The Sunshine Band!!!This guy had become so jaded that the rarest, most valuable and musically superior psych LP just no longer "did it" for him. And I felt bad for him. And other psych collectors treated him like he'd gone insane when he told them of his new tastes outside the psych genre. Listening to just one genre of music is like eating the same food everyday or only fucking in the "Missionary Position".Mix it up folks.....it's better to be able to listen to a lot of music over a long period of time than to burn out and never be able to listen to a particular style/artist ever again. The thing I like most about SS and Waxidermy is that they cover a wider variety of music than any other site I've been able to find.Variety is the spice of life........enjoy!

XIAN PRIVATE FOLK CRYSTAL MUSIC =
But in seriousness, I agree with what rockadelic is saying.
you a form of music is better than another, or
"how can you like english folk music" or whatever, it's also
pointless to tell somebody "no, you don't understand -
there are AMAZING western swing songs" if they just
don't like it. That's the beauty of personal taste -
whether you follow trends or not, at heart you either
like or something or you don't, and no words of someone
else will convince you beyond what your own ears hear.
You must have a listening device planted somewhere in my house.....last night we were listening to Milton Brown & His Musical Brownies!!!
I thought you were anti-conspiracy theory?
For me it's all about Hank Penny and, for a little
spice, Spade Cooley, the man with a life even more
infamous and disturbing than his name!
In "Pen-Sound Stereo"
Never been there ....is it mostly 45's ???
C'mon... Lots of great threads on everything from folk funk to librairies to psych to country to Brit jazz. And, yes, also some discussion of e-z stuff...
Don't waste your time, Rock, these kids just don't understand
"read us the list of 300 breakz again!"
Don't lie; you wish this was the cover of a Folkways record titled "Brats Tell Their Teachers What For"
It's the Rockadelic Show Summer Replacement Mister Rogers Extravaganza
