here are a couple great new scores
a different issue of this
and Good Records scores. I've been after the musique sans paroles for a while now so I'm glad johnny recently got a bunch of them.
Haystacks Balboa is a good NYC hard rock LP with Mountain's Leslie West's brother Mark on guitar!!
and some commons (but staple neccessities) and indy backpack hip hop pieces.
some nice pieces there.
and i have it all to myself...MMMWWWWAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
Passed by a shop I'm very freindly with - picked up some nice stuff that's held for me
30 km or so later deep in the heart of desolate Scarborough...
There's a Roti joint in every strip mall. I'll get you guys pics of the drive-thru one near my Granmother's next time. Canada's only Drivethru Roti place? Likely.
Record store wallpaper at my buddy's place.
BArrington's best 12. Accompanying dub is delicious.
Indy soul cover 45 from the bronx? I'll buy that.
Think this is Jamaican.
Sly and Robbie put a spin on "Don't Stop The Music"
Nice boogie thing.
Gorgeous T.O. 12
Dread take on ALton Ellis's "I'm Just a Guy"
Don't know if this is legit or not, but it's good.
Classics.
Another ill TO 12.
And what was wating for when I returned home 8 hours later...
and a phone call to go pick up these (a sample of the 85 reggae LP's and 12's I bought this dude).
K in Canada.
K.
yeah I was thrown by the terrible cover as well, but the record is
Kevin.
I was wondering when JP would shift that your way!!
Ha, K.
Hey corkscrew you gonna play on my last copy or two of Musique Sans Paroles or what????
Gene & Jerry's cover of "Take This Woman of the Corner" is
one of my top-ten all-time favorite tracks. Totally en fuego.
I swear Gene Chandler helped invent hip hop on that track.
Doubters can check the cadence and report back.
Shitzr, if you wanna sell that Swamp Dogg, would you holler?
Killer scores.
Budgie: IN FOR THE KILL LP (promo) $2 FINALLY!!!!!
Young Gents: Good Things Come In Small Packages 45 (promo) $1.50
Cloud One: Spaced Out 12" (sealed) $2
Eddie Floyd: Baby Bye 45 $1.50
Jim Majure: Go On Fool 45 $1.50
BTW the only online mention I could find of that last one was this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Northern-Soul-Jim-...9QQcmdZViewItem
Was this seller out of his mind or is this really a somewhat rare 45?
I also scored this great found photo with the Budgie album:
Feminine Complex was a true eBay "score" - buy-it-now for under $10 around
10 minutes after it was listed. Graded "VG" but turned out to be a pretty
flawless copy, most people would have said "VG++" Check audio below for a taste.
Couple of terds here, to be honest - at least, the Debbie Au LP
looked really promising, and has a crack studio team incl. Carol Kaye and
Paul Humphrey, but is pretty bleh - and the Johnny Hammond was not blowing
me away, although I didn't give it a full listen. Rainy Daze on the other
hand is an awesome garage/psych album, with a number of dope tracks. Audio
below for that one, as well - Hangmen is more 60's garage goodness, finally
found a cheap and clean copy of Soulfinger after around 20 years of looking,
and my favorite of them all might be the Arsenio Rodriguez...it's like the
18th pressing, but I don't really care, I just want to hear that CUBAN FIRE.
45's from a local spot and from a trade with a fellow Strutter (thanks, E*ic!)
A couple of wants off the list and a couple of interesting finds. Audio below
for two of these - A.C. Reed is a classic funky twist on "Tramp" and the Mob
is an odd one...starts off sounding godawful, but give it a chance, it gets
better and better...my stylus is getting rough and you hear it at the end of the
Mob track, but I didn't think it was too bad. Fuzz Acid & Flowers says
The Mob were a travelling show band out of Vegas with a glitzy rock/soul revue,
and it shows...
Rainy Daze - In My Mind Lives a Forest
Feminine Complex - Hide & Seek
A.C. Reed - Boogaloo Tramp
The Mob - Disappear
haha, that private press expresso is a nice one! from menlo park. late 70s/early 80s prog/wank-worship galore. if anyone wants one holler.
Local Texas acoustic blues LP.
I've had another record by this group (from about the same era) that is straight country hee-haw doo-doo
Damn...I wish I knew how to download a clip...."I've Got A Bag Of My Own" is a JB cover, "What Is Soul" is a Tower Of Power sound-alike....."Skidmore Shuffle" and "Branded" are pretty good straight ahead funk cuts.....honestly, nothing on here sounds Hee-hawish in the least???
I wasn't trying to imply that this album was country...I have a copy of this one too and it's definitely funky stage band stuff...I was just sayin that they have another one that is 180 degrees totally different in sound.
Musta been trying to land a gig in Branson!!!!
The vocals on this one are weak....David Clayton Thomas-like....but the band is pretty good.
and 25 minty unplayed predominantly Atlantic and Scepter-affiliated 45s:

Good score on those 45's.."Judge you sho is funkyyyy... I didn't do it his honor"..(c) Bull and the Matadors
since i was curious i did the math (Windows XP calculator) and you spent 54 cents on each record.
anyway...
the come ups ($2 to $5)
the bargains (50% or more below market price)
the "f*ck it, at least i don't have to pay for shipping"
Dakila is a killer jamming rock LP and guitarist Freddy Ochoa went on to record the beyond rare Golden Dragon LP
