People talk about the Hoctor 45s a lot, and some of the other instructional records with funky tracks, but I found one at a flea market that I can't find much info on. The series is called "Stepping Tones", and the one I have is called Grade 3 Jazz with a track called "Accents in Jazz" credited to Big Hammer and J. Scott. Nice 2 minute instrumental funk track with some nice fuzzy wah wah in it. Google did not turn up much at all. Anybody know about this series? Are there any other good ones?

I think there's a popular library credited to Big Hammer that may be licensed from, some one who owns that might be able to shed some light...
Here's info:

oh shit! thanks a***. turns out the track i have on 45 is the first song on that album, called "big hammer" on the lp. check out the soundclip. later in the song the fuzz on the guitar kind of goes a little nutty. maybe i'll try to up the whole track at some point.
I really wasn't expecting to find anything dope from that label, everything I'd heard was real traditional old-school jazz dance music
