havent really had time to listen to several records i just recently picked up at the record fair here in CPH, one of these was from a swedish seller who told me that he'd dug up Stark Reality five times (top that ), Guiness Book material!!! anyway, i bought a album from this guy which have an awesome track on it, im not sure if this shit's been sampled before, i have the feeling ive heard it before somewhere, psych-folk-funk steez, not really sure what to call this genre, a Canadian group called the Poppy Family.

If only because the font on that other cover is so hideous - like a Barry Manilow LP from 1978 or something... anyway, yeah, the Poppy Family LP is kind of an acknowledged SS favorite ... the spacy ballad tracks like "Free from the City" and "Beyond the Clouds" get stuck in my head constantly.
"No Blood in Bone" is undeniably the freshest song on there - here's something cool I found this week on a cheapo "Best of Vancouver Rock Volume 1" 60's comp LP...seems before forming the Poppy Family, Terry Jacks originally recorded "No Blood In Bone" as a garage punk track! Check it out:
My only "find" of the week so far came in the mail today:
Pretty cool blend of Beau Brummels/Beach Boys folk-pop harmony vocals & ripping fuzztone guitar! "Supervised" by Lee Hazlewood for his LHI label. I had a couple of 45's from here for a few years, finally got a clean & cheap copy of the full LP from eBay. Good stuff.
the Falcons went through many many line-up changes over the years.
the group that recorded for Lupine included Eddie Floyd, Mack Rice, Joe Stubbs( brother of the 4 Top singer) & Wilson Pickett - 'I Found a Love' was Pickett's break-out performance.
the Falcons on Big Wheel is a different group previously called the Fabulous Playboys - they had the same management as the Falcons & took over the name when the orig group broke up / went solo.
its okay. it pops up quite often for looking so dope.
that sensations is cool but its the most common one from them. $10 or so should get you a copy anywhere. all of their other records on way out are better imo.
the falcons on lupine is nice. wish i had clean copies of their records.

Didn't know Maurice & Mac were still recording in the early 70's - how is it?
Also, just when I think I've seen every T.K. subsidiary there is, up pops another ... never heard of that one in the first pic - "Acid's World" or "R-Cid's World?"

you can be impressed. that was a nice pull and the first time ive ever looked at kevins finds. usually theyre reggae and that bores me because i never see it and i dont care about the music.
nice pieces. some of those are real winners like ledgends and the masqueraders. the rest are nice but theyre the cheaper ($10-20) and easier to find titles from those groups like M&M. they are ALL good soul records regardless of value. modern, northern, ballads, etc. really really nice finds kevin.

Have you heard Monty's "They used our LPs for ballast in international ships" story? Like the dude pulling Stark out of a Swedish ostrich farm?
Are you kidding about the Poppy Family, Mister Nakamura?
I think I like the North American cover better:

M&M's work for Checker was outstanding.

the flip side is funky - not too tough a 'pull' as the man says...

...and yes, it is "Reid's World." There were 6 or 7 45s on that label. That's the sought-after one.
