The next lot was pretty trashed, a couple of EX ones, but mostly VG- to G+, KPMs were pressed real well, so the crackle is minimal and fine for sampling. This batch worked out being REALLY cheap overall. Anyone needs, holla.

Gwyneth Patrol on steroids?
A woman I work with & her husband brought in approx. 40 LPs for me yesterday. Most of it is going right to a thrift shop, but scored a copy of "Fats Domino presents Dave Bartholomew and his Great Big Band" LP. Two tracks on side 2 are great, thanks to the drumming of Joseph "Smokey" Johnson. I would almost label these 2 tracks funk, even though it is from '61. Arranged by Wardell Quezergue, too.
turd city skids for me, though on the real cheap side.
The intruders joints are killer though. Actually a lot of nice music this week already...enjoying most of them so far.
if anyone has any info on the :wizard folk: lp above please let me know...does it have a cover?
Symbol 8 "i thought you wanted to dance" (Shock) a shame it wasn't on Midtown since i don't have that version
Also a nice dutch piccy sleeve of this stepperessential..
all in the dollar (euro) bin at a local antique store.
first time digging in a minute (whats up W**l)
this is maybe my best find yesterday...this was sealed, looked like some fast / random rap joint, popped it open and sure enough, it's some of the sickest hip-hop i've ever heard...no joke. it's over the George Kranz "din daa daa" rhythm and has some interpolations of Marshall Jefferson ("move your body....rock your body") and yet it's not hip-house...really dope. anybody know this?
top shelf boogie joint...i think mr. scruff comped this.
electro boogie with dubbed out rapping produced by Duke Bootee
another solid electro track on this dope label
a nice funky boogie tune from ??harles Earland produced by Dunn Pearson of Red Greg fame
sick italo cut with even better cover art! apparently this is either an answer track to Videeo "Somebody (Hey Boy)" on sleeping bag...or the other way around...this is Video "Somebody (Hey Girl)"
i have multiple copies of this sealed. is it worth anything?
here are some finds from this past weekend's record show out here
got more but didnt end up takin pics of them
some nice records were picked up by all
Capetown fringe is a beautiful record.
Less than $25 with the black label. Never seen this color. Dope classic.
K in Canada.
P.S. 45 finds int he lickle soundsystem thread.
I'd consider you very lucky to get $25 for this record, it's common and not at all in demand.
$6-10.
Last I checked there were copies on ebay for buy it now, cheap.
I bought roughly 300 records in California
300 records...how did you get them back!?
I shipped a full uhaul box and a full 30 box, and brought the nicer stuff (~100-125 pieces) with me in a padded & wheeled record bag.
I've been moving a lot of old/b-team records from my parents house as they are getting ready to move, and every time I've put them through security, the guard has asked me about them, given a thumbs up, or something to that effect.
whast that WSSU Total Sound about? Radio Staton comp?
its a winston salem state university stage band lp which is really dope
has some good covers as well as some original pieces... also got some funkiness in the mix
i cant find any info on it
holla if anyone knows
like a nice online dollar bin score, 5 cool LP comps of 60's rock & soul,
and the Sweet Salvation (soulful rock from 1972 on Elektra with 9 minute funk jam cover
of "Rock Steady") was sealed - whole thing was less than $7 incl S/H
I'm diggin' the ballads on the East LA comp:
Next up is from HCrink's set sale - the SoulStrut Sales Forum comes through
again. Couple nice cheap reissues of elusive titles, nice copy of Terry Reid,
and a gorgeous OG of the Dillard & Clark, an LP I've been after for a minute.
From the Dillard & Clark: Dillard & Clark - Radio Song - A&M 1968 MP3
Last but definitely not least, from a local spot on my lunchbreak
today - had to leave some heat behind, but I'm happy with this:
That Freddie McGregor is such a fine album. Seriously transcendent. Very glad to
have landed it, and the Ernest Ranglin is a very very nice find, too.
See for yourselves:
Ernest Ranglin - Scoopy - Steady 1970 MP3
Freddie McGregor - Rasta Man Camp - Studio One 1980 MP3
or maybe more like a one and a half tracker, still it has a pretty cool version of mrs robinson
I've got it too. Couple of funky big band tracks on there. That's all I can holla. Sorry.
The Leadbelly & the Jailhouse Blues are from a big collection I got tuesday. Still havn't finished going thru it all. More pictures to come when I get a chance.
when i was in ny a few years back i had grabbed about 20+ old Music City reels and wouldnt put them through the xray machine so i was pulled to the side. a few dudes came over and were like "what is this?" i explained... they were tripped out. ended up talking to five different security folk about NY Soul music in the 70s/80s. i got to buy records off of two of them after arriving back and talking to them on the phone. quite nice...
originally the piece was titled "Mannenberg"- the neighborhood were Ibrahim grew up in the Cape Flats which are indeed on the fringe of Capetown. It is a primarily "coloured" neighborhood as apartheid would have it and one with a larger muslim minority than most.
peace.
Goddamn, Ras. I've got to show you how to resize your jpgs one of these days.
I know Vrethammer is cute and all that, but that's a pretty big picture .
Got some unexpected records today. My girlfriend's uncle gave me these:
Listening to Ahmad Jamal now - real nice. I love this mans piano playing.
Astrud on Perception sounded good too.
I had that National Gallery years ago and remember it as being crap. Maybe I'll like it better now.
