as w/ anything, it is merely marketing, thread count is not the be all and end all that folks claim to be. Trust your personal judgement, touch the sheets to see which one you prefer. Don't get hung up on a number.

Which is, of course, exactly what I do in the real world but since I buy online occasionally, I don't always have that option, you see.

He has a watchband for his giant Rolex made of a dozen chained-together gold nuggets. I guess they had been panned by his granddad during the olden mining days, and he had a jeweler in Milan hook it up.

that is on some Flinstones fraggle rock steez. I think dual patek still wins on overall gaudyness, does he have one set for another time zone?

young rey - I'm sure a baller of your status can afford to swallow the cost of shipping, as most reputable retailers will have a return policy. On the other hand, if you're buying your sheets on ebay, then that is not such a good rook. Finally, it really is a hands on shopping experience, some things are best left for "real world" purchasing.

I couldn't agree more on this. I understand that the modern urban male needs to rely on the online shopping experience, but we must reserve certain products/services purchases to the real world.

Well, I think that even if you could download your bride/life partner, nothing replaces eye to eye contact and the earth moving beneath your feet. The sound of the Mandala's key breaking again.

if you're really ready for the grown folk lifestyle, then maybe it's time to step into the world of patek philippe

tag is more entry level, as evidenced by all the bootleg tags you see hs kids rock.

2 button > 3 button, especially if you're shorter. A lower stance will reveal more of the shirt/tie, plus it'll give the illusion of you being more open/welcoming.

Ostentatious watches are in seriously poor taste. That is to say, wearing a Patek Philippe is akin to driving a very expensive car. It says 'look at me, I have money but none of the brains or confidence to spend it reasonably'. The way to avoid this is to go vintage or obscure. If you're too lazy or insecure to go vintage, consider a Hamilton or IWC than a a patek philippe. Anyway, most of the people who will make assumptions about you based on your watch aren't worth your time.

Has anyone been (back) to Cancun since the big hurricane went through there last year? I've read that the hotels are supposed to be functioning at ~90% by the summer, but that the sand on the beach along hotel zone was washed away and has to be pumped back in from the ocean or something. I didn't see a timeline for when that would be completed and the beach restored. I'm not trying to go back just yet if conditions are not ideal for the kind of relaxation to which I'm accustomed.

A further question: what kind of a destination is Cancun for a baller?!

Do you even know what sort of people you're likely to be rubbing shoulders with there? I don't and wouldn't want to.

Cancun? How plebian. People of financial stature go to St. Bart's, Anguilla, or a quaint island in indo or micronesia, to vacation on the beach. Cancun, ugh, just goes to show you can't buy class.

Well, yeah, good point--I sort of consider it "slumming" but the beaches are/were really beautiful and the weather agrees with me so...

Are the brown people nicer there?

I find that wherever you go people are as nice to you as you are to them. Now, in regards to luxury, privacy, cleanliness, and service, there are no better places in the Gulf, Atlantic, or Caribbean, than St. Barts or Anguilla.

What about Cayman? It's the true baller hideout. Everyone stashes their money there!

You will never know where a TRUE baller stashes his/her money.

If I may to presume to speak for Rey, I believe he is searching for a destination where he does not have to be nice in order to be treated nicely.

Yeah. All the real ballers go to Cacun.

The Caymans are nice, but not as private. That said, if you are a deep sea diver, Grand Cayman is the best destination.

Snottyness is the first indication of the nouveaux riche, being nice in this case does not mean inviting people over for dinner or even lengthy small talk, I meant cordiality and politness when asking for champagne, your bathrobe, or reservations. Also, truely rich people never complain about service, they just pack up and move to another, better hotel.

Yeah, I was just throwin' it out more on the baller tip. Since almost every major financial institution in the world has an office there. More money is probably hidden there than almost anywhere.

And ur right. Deep sea diving there is pretty intense.

One of my fav spots in the world to just chill and do nothing:

Kind of... I need the beaches to be white, the white people to be browned, and the brown people to be "white" for things to be right for me and my white chick who "acts Black" sometimes and other times doesn't know how to act.
