Actually random stuff from the week......had a nice offer to check out some shelvesof old store stock 45's in the back room of a localspot. Nothing mind-melting or that would pay my rent for the month when flipped on the Bay, but somevery solid titles: Here's one for Pickwick33: Audio: Hank Ballard - Let's Go Streaking Pt.1 Not only hilarious, but a pretty dope lil' funk song, withsome crazy raw guitar...This one above is pretty dope - 1961 latin jazz by this NYC artistwho has some Northern grails on the vocal tip... Audio: Bobby Paris - Dark Continent Some LP's from various spots over the week:Lee Hazlewood raer, Clique has a weird "erratum" insert, Tyrone Daviswas a sealed OG...that Jerry Gonzalez album is really dope, the secondLP i've copped lately on the Ameican Clave label, and both were superb.Curious to know more about this late 70's-early 80's imprint......Wildweeds was a personal grail, and I copped it today from a pile ofrecords being priced on a local spot counter, along with the T. Rex...Mint Tyrannosaurus Rex 1968 UK OG LP's with inserts are not all that common in my neighborhood, so I was pretty psyched to find that. Did I mention the cover?

this from R****** W*****?
snag any doubles for me?
2. [pickwick33]I've got another Hank Ballard 45 called "Let's Go Skinny Dipping"[/pickwick33]
uno mas
now if only I could find one every week
Nope, from Re*d himself ... but there are doubles of
a bunch of these still back there, like the Miz Davis, Bagdads (which is dope), Hank Ballard, etc
... as well as handfuls of unplayed stock copies of nice staples like Kool& Gang
The Penguin and Raw Hamburgers and the Emperors Karate in Amy/Mala/Bell
sleeves, etc. He wasn't coming super-cheap with them, but I had heavy
credit from a massive CD purge I threw his way.
Yeah, the funky side is nice, but I really liked this ballad, so
I decided to give it a little shine
LOL I expected that, just not so fast and not from someone posing as him!

that are all an estate sale find from 2 days ago, i already posted it in fridays
lunchtime finds post but i am so stoked about this batch (cheapo estate sale lot
price) i had to post it twice..
been lookin for that rudy ray for SO long! The only comp-able (IMO) song on
the wind in the willows is the one where Debbie Harry takes lead vox.
took a loooong time to track down lou bond. anyone know if the titanic is the
same as the green S/T one? this is a brazil press.
everything below this point was in the estate lot:
psych group?
wish i had some to list.. too broke right now.
different album...
peace.
Cameos were made by a few strutters (Mandrew, AP, Electrode, Dan696969)
Everybody was chilling up in Austin so all I got was some table crumbs
surprisingly nice Casietta George LP. on top of it being a ncie record I found these inside
serious gospel heatery show
and for my final pick up of the day I found a 5 x 5 polyester/rayon poster of happiness
miss this cat.
used to be so fuckin cool.
are you joking about table crumbs?? Nice scores man!
mike nock underground-between or beyond (german/aussie niceness)
stefano torrossi-echoing america (not bad for free !)
bilitis soundtrack (euro sndtrk niceness)
augustus pablo-ital dub
new times library-the rapture (french funk niceness)
also been catching up on my common soul records, bought 6 temptations records in the last month none higher than 2 dollars.
i like adding common shit to the equation, not everything has to be raer (and expensive). good music is good music, i think in this record game people get caught up in the value of the music rather than the music itself, which is unfortunate. at some point it starts being more a stamp collection than a music collection.
da hell did you find this?!?! everytime I see it on the bay it does close to 200. I've always wondered what this was like. I like the Fourth Way stuff, especially the self-titled one. is it anything like that?
I think this is a hard find no?
Love that early disco sound.
It's wild that this is a Kasenetz/Katz production -
they're the "Super K" team that made millions from late 60's
Bubblegum Music ... didn't know they made raer disco twelves...
Has there been an Austin report back thread?
Not too much this weekend, but that Watts Prophets has been on my list for a minute and it was nice to find it for a decent price. And, while I'm not really into loops and don't produce at all, the Griffith record does have quite a number of moments.
wow thats so awesome you realized that!
Throughly impressed with the Covay. Any suggestions for more records like this? Has a psychy-soul-blues feel. A great break too, that caught me off guard. House of Blue Lights?
The James is a mint promo double, holler?
That gospel record is a Patrick Adams production on P & P. Funky male group with some serious voices. Haven't given it a super close listen yet, thought.
And Donuts sounds SO much better than the mp3s I had. Very happy to have this on wax.
my biggest find yet, and the $50 price was right
That is one very fucked up LP
Soul Incorporated is worth in excess of 2K innit?
it's an ok tune & all, but still...
And the tripped-out part is...I very nearly started to make that same post! I do own the skinny-dipping 45, never heard or seen the streaking single, and am wondering if the two records are the same song with the same backing track or something. I'll know when I rip the YSI at work...
Aussie niceness and a few knocked off the list! Also a few lesser-known numbers here.
Local scores, including that Madeline bell LP which I mentioned in another post. This record is really growing on me actually. Also my first folkways LP purchase! The Mancini soundtrack is also really nice, and the weird surf soundtrack in the top right corner has a killer chase-style funk number!
Dennis The Fox froma a secret on-line location, and some local digs, a bit of Aussie surf psych niceness here.
And some great trades, all from soulstrutters over the last week or so! No 'The_Mack' deals this time around.
Ramsey '(A) Best of' - Aust pressed, Chess
Reggae Goodies vol , wackies re, in the discount bin
The Bamboo's - Step it up, debut LP from local group, soLid, UK tour happening soon
