Post an LP that was recorded in prison, but once the label heard it they opted for something a little less frightening.

It cost a lot to look this crippled, and it's already out of fashion
just a story here, no scans. but UPHEAVAL from wisconsin recorded a full lp's worth of material in prison. pretty much just killer funk and soul, all tunes were over 5 minutes long. they had pressed a 45 from the session of the tune "paradise lost" which one lucky fellow actually found years ago. the rest of the material was recorded and mastered to cassette tape?? sound quality is tough, sounds like a band rehearsing in a cell. the 25 copies of the 45 were pressed up in the basement of the prison.

I don't think long-playing albums had been INVENTED when Leadbelly was alive. Less'n somebody compiled all his jail recordings posthumously.
No one has mentioned the Moments' album that was recorded at a women's prison...too bad there were no shots of the inmates anywhere on the cover.

Not sure if this was recorded in jail. Theres another one that is though that has the beach boys pet sounds font (couldn't find a pic) As you can imagine its the most lo-fi thing ever as I can't imagine anyone wanting to get too close to crazy Charlie.
