Dr John 8 (Out of 10) (as long as he doesn't sing "Such a Night")
Rolling Stones 0 (out of 10)(so sick of these geezah phucks)
Are you saying he doesn't have anything to do with NOLA?
Dude belongs there as much as any Neville.

Steelers 17
National Anthem is being sung by Aretha Aaron Mac.
Somewhere I have a tape of Aretha singing the Star Spangled Banner at the Democratic Convention and she kills it, brings tears to my eyes. She lives in Detroit.
Aaron is one of my favorite singers, but lately he just drenches everything in vibrato. He of course is representing NOLA, and that is good.
Mac Rebanack is a great piano player singer, but when Aaron and Aretha are singing I don't see much point in him chirpping in. If he is going to play piano for them, fine. Aretha could play it, but if they want him fine. Dr John has rarely been back to NOLA since he left in the 60s, but he reflects NOLA in his music everyday. So my point is, with Aaron and Aretha singing the Anthem I don't see where he fits.
Since the Nevilles have always lived in NOLA, since they lost plenty in the flood (did you hear Charmains story?) since they are from a storied Mardi Gras Indian family, I feel that any Neville deserves to be there more than Dr John.
Dan
to make my point, and that is not something I would want to do.
I just think Mac is tied in enough with NOLA and the artists &
recordings that come from there, he should be welcome to represent
without question. Nevilles are royal fam, tho.
Co-sign on Aretha not needing anybody's help.
Still say Pitt takes it.
Fair enough, we will see about pitt.
Dr John is great. I saw him do a solo piano night at a Polish Hall in Syracuse back in the 80s. The sound guy wanted to try to make it sound like a rock show or something cranking the volume and bass to unbearable levels. Most of 100 or so people there gave up on the sound. We went up and sat on the stage where we could hear the piano.
seahawks 27
(i don't really care who wins though as long as it's not a snooze fest blowout, i'll probably be rooting for whichever team is losing)
that's good they have aretha singing in detroit but what about some marcus belgrave ? can you imagine that shit ever happening ?
Pittsburgh 24
Seahawks 27 Steelers 19
I'd prefer the Steelers, but it's not a strong preference. I'm just hoping for a good game.
Aretha 9
Aaron 7
Star Spangled Banner 2
Sound System 1
Whoever is doing soud should be hanged. The Stones sounded horrible. Give me Aerosmith with all those teeny boppers playing walk this way over this BS.
Damn, I undershot each side by a field goal!
Still, just about what I expected.
Congrats to all Pitt fans,
you guys took the long road there and earned it -
Let's hope there isn't alcohol poisoning tonight for
Seattle heads, tough game, some suspect calls, but
congrats to you guys too on a hell of a season, and it sure
looks like the future is still bright, so you may be back
next year...against the Pats...
You were right(er) I was wrong, very wrong.
Dan
You know McCartney did a great job when he did the superbowl, so I though the Stones would too.
They just sounded weak. Spinal Tap would have done a better show. Mick can move, but ughh. All those long guitar solos? You have to sing every verse? Did Mick censor himself? Isnt the line "you make a dead man cum"? He just dropped the second half? They could have just done every great intro, a verse, a chours and on to an other intro. Would have been much better.
haha yeah I heard that too. I still give them credit for:
a.) actually performing LIVE
and
b.) not having Kid Rock or Sheryl Crow or some bullshit up there with them
sure they're old. So is Stevie Wonder. So what?
Of course, you were right.
hearing "Start Me Up" and "Satisfaction" again, especially
in those worn-out, lifeless and poorly amplified versions,
was akin to the excitement of waiting for an elevator.
At least on the new track they were into it and sounded tight.
Dudes should hang it up, or go acoustic or something...at least
dig a little deeper into the catalog..."Start Me Up" is so far
from being one of their best, and they just keep trotting it out there.
