Ron Artest's New Number
He celebrated his fresh start by christening a new jersey number. After wearing Nos. 15, 23, 91 and 15 again in his stops in Chicago and Indiana, he went for 93. The inspiration for it came from a hip-hop album by the group Souls of Mischief called "93 'Til Infinity." For Artest, the number symbolizes an unlimited future and a release from emotional burdens.

Back in '93 when the song was recorded by a bunch of twenty year olds flush with youth, yeah, I can see it representing "an unlimited future and a release from emotional burdens."

I wonder how familiar with their later career Ron is, though?

In light of their subsequent descent into irrelevance, bitterness and, um, skateparks over a period of years much shorter than "infinity," I kind of feel like it now symbolizes something else.

    This is still amazing, though.
