"white scientists are always trying to take away the black mans achievements, now they attribute the existence of white man to a genetic mutation - it was I, Yacoub, that grafted the first devil out of unclean animal parts!!!
What the DNA can tell is give a general area from which a person comes from, such as Sub-Saharan Africa, etc.
The report went on to say that one of the group's most interested in the DNA research were the police who are using it now in criminal investigations to try to get a profile of criminals. A scientist went on to say that it shouldn't be used by the police because there are several problems with it. For instance, you might get some DNA from a crime scene and it says the person is Native American. The person could be Mexican or Latino however since many are mixed with Spanish and Indian and the police would never know.
THAT is what Yakub would say...
I keed, I keed...
I saw the main scientist (who is Asian) interviewed on the news, and he said that people in the Scientific community told him to tread lightly and be careful, that people obviously have all kinds of agendas surrounding information like this. He and members of his team maintain that the whole point is that the 'mutation' is so miniscule that it should only have people reaching one conclusion: that it signifies virtually NO difference at all. They have simply pinpointed where it occurs.
One of the groups, beside the police, who are actually most interested in this research are geneaologists (sp?). I heard a 2 hour talk show on NPR about this and they brought up the fact that people can now get DNA tests to find out about their ancestors. They can't pinpoint anything specific, but if you don't know much about your family history, or can only go back a few generations, a DNA test will give you an idea about what parts of the world your family came from. For example, you could get a test and they could tell you that you've got Native American, Sub-Saharan African, and Western European roots.
Get on that level. DNA SHMEE N A.
