Ok well maybe not exactly a correct title (or maybe so), but I'm trying to put together a cd for my sister-in-law who is all about the New Edition, Jodeci, Hi-Five, Shanice type R&B and was wondering if any of ya'll could recommend some joints...? I have about 7-8 songs so far but could use a little help on this... Did some searches and came up with some other R&B madness but do you recommend anything in particular...?PS: I'm trying to keep it rather upbeat since I ain't about to make a "baby-making" cd - ya dig!

BOOM
Thats what I was thinking but I tend to think of New Jack Swing as raps and not so much R&B (Redhed, Heavy D, etc. - they're all rappers). But if its all the same then YES - New Jack Swing!

Aaron Hall is the man! I used to have this track on repeat when the Juice OST came out. Definetely throw some Guy in the mix, too. Also: Johnny Kemp - "Just Got Paid"
Yeah boy! I still got this one on 12" from 1989 or whenever, real nice beats on that track. I haven't listened to this for about 10 years.
Couple of others I can think of...
Hi Five - Just Can't Handle it
Monks of Funk - Wonderful Thing
Today - Why You Get Funky On Me
Johnny Kemp - Just Got Paid
Johnny Gill - Rub You The Right Way
Troop - I'm not soupped
Guy - I wanna get with you/Do me right/Tell me what you like
Christopher Williams - Don't wake me
Teddy Riley Feat. Tammy Lucas - Is It Good To You
Keith Sweat - I want her
Soul for real - Every little thing
Hmmm... And one of the greatest tracks IMO -
Blackstreet - U Blow My Mind - RMX
I can't remember if Soul IV Real - Candy Rain qualifies...
Color Me Badd - I Wanna Sex You Up possibly?
co-sign on Joe Public - Live & Learn
oh, what are the 7-8 you already have?
In no particular order:
1. Ralph Tresvant - Sensitivity
2. Michel'le - No More Lies
3. Today - Why Get Funky On Me
4. Aaron Hall - Don't Be Afraid
5. Jodeci - Get On Up
6. SWV - I'm So Into You
7. Hi-five - I Like The Way
8. Shanice - I Like Your Smile
or some En Vogue?
good call on Jodeci - Get On Up
