Dude, don't open that can of worms. I had this "discussion" with my Portuguese wife about our (possible future but no time soon) daughter. Apparently, it's a cultural thing?
BUT it did result in a huge victory for me. She said that if she could make the decision to pierce her ears, then I get to determine when said daughter can start dating.
