So, I'm listening to the Beeb's 1Xtra show called "The Basement." According to the tracklist, the first track is Candido's "Thousand Finger Man," but it sounds too modern. Can anyone who's heard/owned this track tell me if this is the original or a remix.Thanks.http://www.bbc.co.uk/1xtra/features/basement.shtml

Here's the original.
You must go and find a copy for yourself immediately.
One more: Does this version of TFM exist on a 12"?
Thanks for that clarification.
Every track on there is nice.
I think the only other 12" off of that album is "Jingo."
There is a salsoul LP, I think a salsoul 12", and a Ram's Horn 12".
Holler at the Ram's Horn 12" for 1 dolla.
basically it's a paradise garage classic so it has always been in demand, not just because of the recent disco is cool revival from beat heads.
dudes call this "proto" house.
Go for the Dancin & Prancin 4 track 12" on Salsoul that Secret Chimp mentioned as the Canadian only Salsoul 12" of TFM is like $200+ last copy sold for $300.
The track was also on the Jake One A-R Music mix a few months back, Can still be heard on the SoulStrut DJ Mixes page.
Louie Vega : Thousand Fingered Man

Louie Vega delivers a respectful cover version of the Candido disco classic! Starting off by staying pretty close to the original albeit with a up-to-date MAW sound, Vega's "Thousand Fingered Man" turns into a jazzy house jam, mixing it up with exotic disco rhythms.
Yeah, I like the whole album.
Don't know about it "changing hands for ridiculous rates," though--isn't that like a $20 or $25 piece?
Yeah, now that I think about it, it's probably less than that. It's pretty common in New York (like you could find a dollar copy if you were willing to wait a month or three), but may be tougher elsewhere.
My personal favorite Candido piece is Beautiful on Bluenote...
But apparently the TFM 12" does go for serious loot..
I know I have it around here somewhere, but I can't find it!
The US Salsoul EP is not.
Yes, we know both of these things; my original post was directed at the author of the page that SC posted a link to, who described Dancin' and Prancin' as "exchanging hands at ridiculous rates".
