or the new ish
dope record
this was on when I was in Good Records the other day and it was serious.
(I was gonna ask waht was the deal with it, but I didn't want to look like a little dude.)
Ask again in 2006 and I'll add The Malcouns and Lefties Soul Connection who are both working on theior LPs right now...
Hands down, nobody is fucking with this.
Except maybe the Soul Destroyers.
It's all realative though.

I have to say I am EAGERLY awaiting for this record to be in my hands

IT'S SURE A BEST ONE!

man, thats a tough fucking record..mine got stolen...grrrr
if anyone can help a feller procure one of these, I would be most appreciative...trades, whatever.
(the b-side "Turn This Thing Around" is the CHUNE)
(the deep soul b-side "Could Have Been" will make your face melt off)
(That Kid Miles "Funky In Jamaica" b-side is killer island funk)
(shameless rip of Persuaders "Love's Gonna Pack Up" but so what - it's incredible)
That Greyboy/Sharon Jones/Quantic/Paul Nice 12" on Ubiquity is unfuckwithable.
And to go off track a little bit, this is a nice slice of Prince/TomTomClub/LaidBack-style 80s club cotton candy that some of you might like if you're not worried about being seen as a trendy hipster:

Exactly. Anyone who disagrees is just a

Miles just reworked the drums beneath the decades old Bumps Jackson track. He bought that off me.
K.
P.S. I got one for sale right now.
hell yes. one of those CDs I keep rockin' in the car.
btw, anybody got that raer Poets of Rhythm LP?
the fucking drums on that are
I've never been able to track down the ORGONE album...Much chop?
okay this is the Jaguar album cover. I like the 12" version better...
yeah, its great, I love that tune, but the other desco/daptone stuff has that intangible that a lot of the "serious" neo-funk stuff like this and the Poets of Rhythm lack, the intangible of the vibe about it...the dap-kings, mighty imperials, Lee Fields, etc...they have that "get off your ass and have a good time" abandon about them and I think that is what makes a lot of soul and funk so fucking great. Yeah I dig seriousness also, but I think the joy and love expressed on those "good times" records make them superior.
