Mr. Phill Most Chill,I know you are busy makin' moves in the real world, but plaese to update worldofbeats.com website with new and exciting content. Thank you,Big Chan
You got the real live Phill Most right here--I certainly get as much information from his posts as I did from his site and column.
Word. I enjoy reading Phill's post here as well, but the worldofbeats website was dope when it was being updated. Phill's columns, top ten lists, interviews, etc. were always a great read. It was a different format than someone posting on a message board. Nostalgic I guess.
I always enjoyed the top tens from a man who was actually alive when Rapper's Delight came out, but no need to poop out entire articles or interviews, somebody can take a guestspot, no ?
Soulstrut board rarely is a good showcase for Phil's talents. When I used to get Rap Sheet, his column was about the only readable part of the paper.
His Worldofbeats.com writing was always, entertaining, informative and insightful.
He is flat out one of the best music writers in the country today. Marcus is a chump, Most is a champ.
His Soulstrut post on steroids in MLB was as great a piece of writing as I've read this year.
Man, these testicularly challenged superweirdos were the only thing that pumped some life into the long dead sport known as major league baseball!!! Sosa, McGwire and Bonds pretty much saved the sport when they started bangin' roid juice into each other's ass cheeks and proceeded to turn warning track fly balls into mammoth tape measure home runs. Now everybody wants to come down on them and waste our tax dollars on congressional hearings and sh*t... what the hell for??? Those folls should be looked at as heroes. If they want to jeopardize their future health and the size of their balls in order to entertain us, I say LET THEM DO IT. F**k the record books, Babe Ruth and a lot of those other old time foolios amassed their stat totals back when my niggas were banned from playing, so how accurate are those totals, either? Not to mention all the greenie poppin' and line sniffin' that was done in the 60's and 70's. What about all the pitchers like Gaylord Perry who doctored the ball for their entire careers? You gotta put asteriks on the whole muthafackin' record book whether you wipe out the steroid freaks or not! So I say let Barry Bonds juice up until his head bursts open like a pinata... without the roids baseball is a DEAD SPORT.
By the way, Barry... that was a real bitch move yesterday. You let those folls know that they got you to crack... you ain't NEVER suppossed to let them know that they got to you! Suck it up and take it like a man, bitch.
Phil if you ever want to write again you have a fan base.
I'm sure he'll say it again, but he gets this request 2-5 times a year just on Soulstrut. Dude has 2 kids and lots on his plate and he said it was unlikely we would see an update anytime soon or ever again. I'm bummed too, but I got over it. Plus if he did start WOB again it we may not get his wisdom around here. Just re-read the old ones, you know you still havn't found half that stuff.

I appreciate the love for the ol' W.O.B. site... wish I could still do it, but you know how time consuming those real world movements can be. As I've said in the past, though, I think the World Of Beats served it's purpose and even though it would be nice to be able to put up more interviews with superstars of the crates world, top ten lists, "Shit I'm Feelin'" etc., the time came for me to move on. So on I have moved.
I actually may have a new website coming up soon to support these aforementioned real world moves-
First release on the World Of Beats label will be coming (hopefully) in about a month, the debut of Pittsburgh's illest, my boys G.U.N (Greed's Ultimate Nemesis) with their first warning shot The Greedy Ultimate EP (pictured from left- Big Ghate, Soma Splitfinger)
Y'all already know about the classic 2nd W.O.B. release-
And a deal is in the works now for another new act that's already gotten a lot of soulstrut love... can't speak on it now, but as always, you'll hear it here on soulstrut first!
Now if I can just find THIS wacky li'l chick and sign her to a deal it's gon' be ON LIKE A MUG!!!
(Excuse the shameless plugging, but I had to let y'all know about the real world moves, so you'll know why regular world Of Beats updates just ain't possible right now. Thanks again for the love, though! )

I'll be listening to and talking up your music too.
World of beats was like foundation material for this young digger back in the day.
Im sure today they would still be crazy, but back then, before so much knowledge was out there on the net, they were like the shit to be checking for.
Word up, B-Sizzle. That's the whole thing... with Soulstrut and all these other sites and message boards that are up now, there's really no big need for the World Of Beats experience anymore. Back when I started it, there wasn't anything else out there online (that I know of, anyway) that catered to the crate digging culture in an in-depth manner. So I'd like to think that in my own small way I sparked something that grew and expanded, and helped to give birth to any even bigger community. It's all good, I'm happy to see how it's evolved. So now I can just sit back, chill in the back seat and let the younger, more inspired and energetic folls take the wheel!
And Dan, thanks for the props on my writings. I don't think I'm all that great of a writer, I just come from the heart with it and hopefully that's good enough! Deadlines are not a good thing for me, though, and that's one of the realities of writing professionally on a regular basis. The last couple of things I had published really went horribly wrong because I had to rush and get them done when I had too much other stuff goin' on, and I definitely don't like going out like that. So for now I'm very content with just dropping some lines here on the 'Strut to get whatever off of my chest whenever the feeling hits (as I did with the tongue-in-cheek steroid post)- suits me just fine. I'll never say never, though... maybe at some point I will get the itch to return to writing on the regular. But right now, it's all about

same here. as a very little dude i once did a half ass wetmouth email interview with phill for an article on the breakbeatraer for my high school newspaper (you remember this?). they never ran it.
I think the gurl can sing!!! Someone needs to find them. They are pure hotness with the moves and the singing. I swear, the main song always has me rockin' out!

Whoa... those females are doin' the ILL SHIT! Thanks for the video, hommie. I want to sign them NOW. Are they really singing or is this karaoke stuff? I like them better as insane young karaoke females, actually.
Plus the boy's nice on the 1s and 2s. I have Philadelphia Beat Mission in the whip now.
Thank you, my brother. That's PHILL[/b]adelphia Beat Mission, though... can't forget that second "l". And don't be too impressed with that 1s and 2s niceness... it's all studio trickery!

Let me guess... in the interview I was talking about my affinity for big boob porn, wasn't I? I always do. No wonder your school paper didn't run it. Sorry!
I was already collecting for 11 years when I found World Of Beats in The Rap Sheet.
Even then I didn't really understand that there was a whole culture around the records that hip hop DJs used. I just thought I was reading about other record collectors that also DJed or produced.
Of course I always went out and picked up the top tens, which usually could be had for the asking at any used record store in Portland.
I remember when Phill was not on the S.S. board yet and I told him about it in an email... his responce was like "Yeah, that a cool site and I would love to read it all day but I'm too busy..." now he has a higher post count than me!... S.S. is a drug, believe that...

Yeah, I think that was before I had kids! Now I'm in the house all the time and have nothing better to do than check out the S.S. haps while I'm supossed to be babysitting my youngin's (oops... "parenting" my youngin's... Dan set me straight on that a while back!). This site IS f**kin' addictive, though. It's callin' me, man!

Yeah it was before you had kids (plural) but your daughter was here... your point is well understood though, I'm in the same boat, I dont even really dig anymore because there is simply no time...

Well, damn... what was it before my daughter was born, just the Crates List? 'Cause I remember announcing her birth and talking about naming her after two different records and everybody congratulating me and all that. I thought it was on the 'Strut??? well, that would've been six years ago, so I guess you're right, maybe there was no Strut back then. It's hard to remember what life was like before Soulstrut, it feels like it's been here FOREVER (forever ever? forever ever? forever ever?)
one thing fo sho : your tapes was and still is the illest...i love to HEAR music, not only snippets...and some of your tapes are in constant rotation for years. And i know when i'll be 50, i would have to explain what kind of dude Phil was. You'll be remembered as a true diggin master, no geek shit involved!!! I wish you all the good luck you deserve...

OK I figured DOR would have said it....but it really looks like those girls are actually singing. I wasn't aware of "lip synching" karaoke. I thought it was always actuall (usually bad) singing of a hit song. If you notice at one point the one girl kinda of starts laughing and the singing stops until she regains her self.
These girls rock! Now I want to know what they are singing. I bet if you could understand the words it would be even funnier. It's already a riot!
