Anyone up on doo wop stuff?

Just wondered if anyone could point out any nice doo wop or doo wop/soul crossover stuff?

Like the Bob Abrahamian mix type stuff or stuff like





not trying to get up on mega raers or anything, just some pointers on artists, compilations or mixtapes.

    The Superbs, on the Dore label, were pretty good as far as crossing over from doo-wop to soul. Their best-known song was 1964's "Baby, Baby All The Time." No albums, all singles, although there was a really good CD compilation some years back.

    I'd also go with the Jive Five, who were excellent across the board. Although their first hit was in 1961, they didn't rate a full LP until they signed with United Artists in 1965 and scored on the charts with "I'm A Happy Man" (from the album of the same name, which I recommend). They had a few additional singles on Musicor later.

    the 5 Royales' Home of the Blues recordings (produced by Willie Mitchell) are probably one of the best examples of this sound...early soul/doo wop stuff is the best from around the 61 to 64 era IMO.Also in league with the Royales would be The Falcons which featured Wilson Pickett, Eddie Floyd, Mack Rice (their OG version of "I found a love" can be heard in the mix below). Also check out the early Motown stuff from this era. Lots of early vocal groups made amazing early soul tunes, and lot made terds. Here are some examples of the stuff I dig and play regularly play on my radio show:










    here is a doo wop mix I did a few years back...not too much soul/crossover but some big hits and obscurities (there is a glitch where the mix starts over about a couple minutes or so in, dont know why that happened)

    This doo-wop has one of my favorite lyric phrases ever:
    "A is for Ari the girl I hold so much / E is for Edna I will have your touch
    I is for Inez the girl Im thinking of / O is for Odessa, but U are my love"

    But I only really know stuff that's found me; I dont' seek doo-wop out really. You should just check PJdoowop on youtube .. he's got a ton of stuff up.
