SOULERCOASTER Funk 45 Mix

Hey Everybody, I did a guest mix for 45live.net:

SOULERCOASTER:
A Thrill Ride of Body-Shaking Funk 45s
It's got twists, turns, and death-drops of glorious gospel and fuzzy psych, covers of The Ohio Players, Chicago, and Frank Sinatra, and selections from Mexico and Thailand!

Enjoy!

That London Fog has been a long time favourite of mine.

Everything about that song is cool. I want to visit her.  Just to hang.

  • Thanks man! I'd never heard the Della Reese, that's a really cool track.
    And Mr. Slowly of course

The drums on that Della Reese were ahead of their time (1966)!

My mind was blown when I heard the original version of Mr. Slowly ("sing a mean tune, kid" by Chicago). I had only known it because AKO posted it up here 10 years ago as "unknown Thai funk".

Excellent mix. I like how it switches up between genres and still stays cohesive.

Yeah, excellent mix. Really enjoyed that. The Sampson and Delilah tune was a nice surprise for me as I have a few of their records but hadn't heard this one. Thanks for sharing.

    RIP Della Reese

She wrote a chorus for her version of "it was a very good year":

"I can recall like it was yesterday

    Everything seems so clear

Memories of things time cannot wash away

    These are my cherished years"

She had some very good years....
