It is time to stop calling refugees; migrants and illegal immigrants. Europe and the US need to open their boarders to refugees.

  • Just like they did during the Holocaust. The quote from one leading Canadian politician at the time is "even one [Jew] is too many". We have learned nothing from history, humanistic progress is a myth.

Bless you if you represent the fu.

  • It's downright fucking evil. The Worst Newspaper In London had it on their front page today that - horror of horrors - the Eurostar train that goes through the tunnel from the UK to France was being delayed and some services cancelled due to these.. people.. climbing on the roofs of the trains and hanging off the bottoms.
Plus there was a photo of some poor.. thing.. in the water somewhere trying to keep their infant above the water. Someone had seen it fit to digitally daub a religious head dress onto the woman's head so the photo might look more hateful.
I'm avoiding the news and that makes me feel like a shit.
The tragic desperation of humans received with zero compassion from most people

    Meanwhile, in Iceland...

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/iceland/11835537/10000-Icelanders-offer-to-house-Syrian-refugees-after-authors-call.html

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/sep/01/icelanders-call-on-government-to-take-in-more-syrian-refugees

"“[em]Refugees are human resources, they have experience and skills,” the Icelandic letter reads.

“Refugees are our future spouses, best friends, or soulmates, the drummer for the band of our children, our next colleague, Miss Iceland in 2022, the carpenter who finally finished the bathroom, the cook in the cafeteria, the fireman, the computer genius, or the television host[/em].”

    (aka getting humanity right)

Great editorial in the New York Times about my country's (Australia) shameful treatment of refugees.

As someone who is currently utterly ashamed to be Australian, it's great to see this being written about so scathingly in the international press.

The Germans are doing a lot to improve their world image and put the rest of us to shame. https://twitter.com/jennyhillBBC?ref_src=twsrc^tfw

Only hope that there's a chance that the nastier side of reality doesn't come crashing in too hard.

Not that Britain has a great record regarding refugees, but my main beef with Australia's attitude is that IT'S A FUCKING EMPTY CONTINENT! There's loads of space.

A friend of mine is in Budapest, says shit is unreal.

But is there water enough to support lots more people?

    Not defending Australia.
The solution to a world wide refugee crisis, that is going to get worse with global climate change, is [em]not[/em] to look for desolate locations to dump people.

I know I know it's a simplistic observation. Ideally the refugees wouldn't need to leave home...

It would be awesome if the rich Saudi oil barons helped with this crisis a little. But I guess there is that water issue, as well.

THIS. So ashamed of the Australian government. Both sides of politics are complicit in locking up refugees, so major debate is stifled.
We also spend three times the UN budget for refugees on locking them up.
Now our immigration force has been turned into this neo fascist military group that operates in secrecy and outside the usual checks of a democratic society.

I live near some refugee service centers, they are run by the local Lutheran Church, across the street the church holds services in for Lao and Sudanese people. The latest groups have been from Myanmar with small numbers from Nepal or Congo. Running these government contract services is basically thankless, the public money they get is a pittance and keeps getting cut every year. The refugees get three months of rent and help getting into school or low paying jobs.

  • Most of these refugees are refugazi. Just your average economic migrants who are being falsely represented as refugees so as to create a pretext to import more foot soldiers in the left's long war on western civilisation. A war they are coming dangerously close to winning.
