Sounds more jazz-funk than modern soul to my ears, perhaps from around '79/80-ish. I hate replying to requests like this when I don't know the answer, but you might be at least mildly amused to learn that Shazam identified it as this...

Thanks for the reply, but it's not jazz-funk, it is modern soul funk. Anyway, it doesn't matter....what matters is if anyone knows this one

What's wrong? It's not modern soul funk? It definately is. It's a hot topic in Modern Soul group on facebook aswell at the moment...is it disco funk, modern soul funk etc.....but anyway, didn't ask for the genre....would like to know the artist/title.

    Thanks,
    Üllar

And how does it differ from Modern Soul Funk?

    Sorry I don't know it.
Sounds like a hit. Surprised it is resisting identification.

my guess is the singer is not American.

It's no of those genres, so, please get over it. It is Modern Soul/Funk ro Disco/Funk. I collect that genre. But at the moement I try to find an artist, not verify a genre. Please, if You don't have anything useful to add, then don't add.

It sounds like "Sandstorm" by Darude, except there's more singing in this one.

Maybe it's a mashup of Darude and a raer, hitherto unknown ABBA side project joint?

It doesn't sound like Darude at all.

I can't speak for batmon, but I'm certainly beginning to wish I hadn't bothered now.

What about this Boz Scaggs LP? It is not from this LP.

    Hey how you doing Exte?
You have been around soulstrut long enough to know the meaning of Boz Scaggs.

Both myself and Batmon have an aversion to made up genres.
I have mostly gotten over it.
If you and your friends call this modern soul funk, fine.
I call it disco*, which is probably what the producer of the track was going for.
Safe bet no one involved in this track called it modern soul funk.

Any way, thanks for sharing the track. It is good and very well produce with good players. Which leads me to think it is not ultra rare.

*I call most all dance music disco.

Ok, let it be Disco then. And sorry, I really don't know, what is that Boz Scaggs means here. As my native language is not english, I may not understand all the "jokes" in english, sorry. But I am still after this tune :D
