Whats the verdict on both these kindred spirited modern funk labels?
I have to admit im feeling these releases and the fact that theyre ltd vinyl runs. Plus Omega supreme has great design imo

  • sounds ok but quaint, who needs throwback bullschitt when one can listen to the real thing?

Agreed, it is very throwbacky but its GOOD throwback.
If this was some undiscovered or unreleased 80s shit id cop too. Good refreshing update imo - one that will work on the dancefloor too.
Im diggin it - sometimes its nice to explore something new rather than revisiting something for the 10.millionth time..

I like the boomerang one. Yeah it sounds like Zapp or something but more Zapp is fine w me I'd bump new Zapp if there was any so I'd bump this.

I'm more familiar with Omega Supreme than Mo Funk. The crowing jewel of Omega Supreme is the psychi mirrors.

Unfortunately their first two releases are way too $$$ to pick up 2nd hand.

Im still waiting for the Julian Love Ep on M-Division records.
Killer take on the modern boogie electro funk sound.
He's taken down all his youtube tracks for some reason.

He is an illusive character and it would be great if he could put more out!

Some cool stuff is coming out Melbourne label Voyage though

[strong]EDIT[/strong]: Bonus Beat: soon to be out on MCDE

my friend walla-p scours all these labels and releases and puts together the best in his weekly show with some old school joints..he will release a comp on vinyl very soon and start a 45 monthly partnership with ohmega supreme..glad to see the strut is still alive with fans of this sound.

I also prefer the old to the new but the future funk has some gems that are truly special and its cool that some people are highlighting those

Let me know if you want them and I'll upload them for you.
I really wish he'd put them out on vinyl.

I put them up on sound cloud
They are youtube rips as all the tracks are unreleased.
Maybe we should start a kickstarted to get him to put these out. It would be a great EP right there.

the Brian Ellis LP they put out is *killer* – one of my favs from last year. it included this single featuring Egyptian Lover:

yeah. I think this is his finest work so far.

He's a mate of mine. I was luckily enough to DJ alongside him when he was coming up through the Melbourne club scene. He would bring his keyboard and drum machine to every gig, many of them small, and blow peoples minds with the quality.

I've pre-ordered it from a large seller but still waiting for it to ship together with the large professor silver 3lp from slice of spice which is delayed. But you have to be quick to grab these releases because they (omega supreme) only do limited physical runs. (300 or 500 i believe)
