Flying out in March for a week. I'm planning on driving from Vegas to Kingman, AZ and take Route 66 to Santa Monica armed with an arsenal of film cameras. Return trip through Death Valley.
Any recommendations? Food, the weird, antiques, records... I'm game. Any remaining Strutters want to link....?
I've got Oatman road... Needles... Roy's Motel / Cafe... Barstow? Salton Sea maybe? Mid Century Modern neighborhoods in Vegas... Mind Dump.

We did a road trip (Vegas > LA > Phoenix > Monument Valley > Grand Canyon > Back to Vegas via Route 66) last spring and we're going back in June. We did a bit of Route 66 (from the other way at Kingman).
Always interested in a strutter recommendation. A couple of ones strutters threw out last time worked out well.
Haven't completely picked our route. But we're thinking Vegas through Utah to Page and then back through AZ via Grand Canyon again. The wife's parents grabbed us a cabin right on the Rim for a night.
Open to anything interesting to see, eat or do.
If you got a day in Vegas you need to hit up:
Moondog records
Record City (purple building)
Pinball Hall of Fame
Cowntown Guitars
Arts Factory
Rose. Rabbit. Lie.
Absinthe (If you want to peep a cool show)
Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum
Container Park/Fremont East (my hood)
Goldspike
The Writer's Block bookstore
Neon Museum
Atomic Liquor
Cornish Pasty (food)
I'm sure I'll think of some other stuff later. Namean.

Absolutely. I can't believe it's been almost 10 years since I've been there.
I'm planning to spend March 6th in Vegas. I'm going to dig, shoot pics of motel signs, mid century neighborhoods, old Vegas, and hoping to get into something Friday night. Is the strip something you avoid like the plague?
Archi's = bomb Thai
Nah, I don't mind hitting up the strip usually when friends are in town. I don't go to Casino's very often, except to catch movies, but sometimes there's some cool shit that's happening on the strip.
For example:
- Brooklyn Bowl, One of the new best music venues on the strip. (Caught Budos Band and Tame Impala here last year)
- James Turrell's 'Akhob' exhibit in the Crystals is a bit like stepping into The Holy Mountain.
- Circus Circus Midway - Great to sometimes catch some Trapeze Circus acts in the Midway for Free
- Stratosphere, Linq & Eiffel Tower have the best Aerial Views of Las Vegas.
- Secret Pizza in the Cosmo has a fantastique slice of pie
- Damo
