Do I Really Need To have All the Albums ______ Made?

Do I need all 3 Voices of East Harlem LP's?

Do I need all of Joe Tex 1960's LP's?

Do I need Any Last Poets albums?

Do I need any Teagarden & Van Winkle?

Do I need the first 4 Sweet Inspiration albums?

Do I need 2 Hundred Proof Aged in Soul albums?

How Many Jason Lindh albums are really necessary to keep?

Why does purging make me feel like a hoarder?

Feel free to answer and add on

Makes you realize just how much you have that you will never listen to.

Truly you only need what you listen to, and what makes you feel good when you pick it up and look at it.

I purged all Ramsey except for Mother Natures Son,

Only Tjader I kept was Soul Sauce (Prophet and Last Bolero in Bekreley for trade)

60's Buck Owens is a keeper

I've got about 6 Gabor Szabo albums. Surely that's not necessary..

^^ Szabo's unique, though his stuff on CTI is weak IMO

My Coltrane section is bloated. I need to get it down to under 8. I haven't bought a Miles LP in yrs but the section seems to keep growing. I love Mongo Santamaria, but damn I've got alot of his stuff. Some artists are like that : Lou Donaldson, Willie Bobo (all the Verve stuff is such quality but damn...), Jimmy McGriff, Jimmy Smith (got rid of most of his stuff..). Do I need the entire Roy Ayers discog? GSH? Leon Thomas ? (haven't given him a spin in ages) I'll save these ? for another day I think.

Dreams and jazz raga. Purge the rest

Only Kudu I kept: Idris Power of Soul

Mama Wailer's dope on Kudu love the title track
The version of Home is where the Hatred is By Esther Phillips is lovely too...

but yeah Power of Soul rules the roost on Kudu

Ramsey? Maiden Voyage, Mighty Quinn is my favorite.

I would keep the Tjader. To me many of the records are interchangable, but all of them please. Many of the Concord/Picantes are nice. Keep at least 20.

I have yet to find a Buck Owens that pleases from start to finish. I like the bluegrass one, Ruby ok. I would take em and make a hits cd, be done.

CTI? Nina Simone Baltimore, crazy underrated.

  • good point on the Buck.

    how about:
    quicksilver messenger service?
    jefferson airplane?

    Classic.

I always found Gabor Szabo's music interesting. I don't think I would sit around listening to it, but for sampling purposes...

I still have that shirt WalterMondaleForPresident1984Raer

  • gabor szabo and cal tjader were both musical geniuses who led great bands and ran a pretty cool label.. in fact i cannot really think of one bad album between them with the exception of "nightflight".... can a person really have too many versions of tracks like "mizrab" or "morning"?

bjorn jason lindh, on the other hand, is highly purgeable...

I've decided to get rid of two, now the questions is which two do I rid?

Seriously though, how many Rance Allen LP's does one non-church goer need?

Is that you in your avatar Guzzo?

I realise after asking Danno3000 if he was his avatar that this line of questioning is beginning to look weird.

And no, I don't walk around in an African mask.

Surely the only necessaries are the one with Loading Ramp and the one with Peace of Mind respectively

And for Tjader, just the Evil Ways lp

Nope the guy in my avatar is Trace Cyrus, Miley's angst-ridden brother.
I look a lot more like a record nerd

PS Danno and I once had dinner together at Roscoes Chicken and Waffles. I think we would have looked a lot cooler if we had our avatars as stand ins

OK. Your job is photographing fashion models and shit (IIRC), and I thought that maybe this is what staring down the lens at untouchable poontang all day does to a guy.

That was a great dinner. I remember an argument with a waiter who wouldn't accept that I wasn't in television. We'll have to do that again soon.
