Picked this up from a dollar bin and did a wiki and came up with this:
Kind of interested to hear it. Bet it sucks.
The Masked Marauders is a record album released on the Warner Bros. Reprise/Deity label in the fall of 1969, which was part of an elaborate hoax concocted by Rolling Stone magazine.[2][3]
In their October 18, 1969, issue, the magazine sarcastically claimed in a review of the non-existent album that it captured a "super session" of the era's leading rock and roll musicians, including Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, John Lennon, and Paul McCartney, and that the reason none of the artists were mentioned on the album???s cover was because of contractual agreements with their recording companies.[3] Because so many people believed the review, it was decided that a previously unplanned recording needed to be made in order to extend the life of the joke.[3] As a result, a virtually unknown band was recruited to record the album and a major record label agreed to produce it.[3] By the time the album reached record shops, it was virtually a legend.[4]
Kind of interested to hear it. Bet it sucks.
