Copped this at a gig in 2003-ish, thought I'd share the love.

Its 2 parts hip hop and 2 parts funk / psych.

I only have a partial tracklist.

Hopefully you real headz can add on.

That's Bert Loska And His Electric Sound Orchestra "Spiel Mir Das Lied Vom Tod".
Some other fun EZ moments on that LP too.

    Nice!

As it happens, I copped that mix at an Ugly Duckling gig Format was supporting in Bristol at the Academy.

I ride for DJ Format. Dude's got genuine DJ skills, makes good beats, and has a healthy sense of humor. I have a copy of his Music for the Mature B-Boy filed. I used to get a lot of work out of the English Lesson 12" back in the day.

Oh, no doubt. Once the album came out, I had a little thing mixing English Lesson, English Lesson (Remix), and Extra Lesson together to form a 10+ minute breakbeat extravaganza. In the right crowd, it killed.

He is also one of the greatest dudes one could ever meet. Lots of shout outs to one of the best.

Yeah, I think I have all his 12"s filed. Big fan of his productions technique and I always thought Abdominal matched the mood of his beats really well. Also, I couldn't find a link to it on YT, but his remix of Nigos's 'March of The General' is off the chain.

  • 20:00 - Black Beauty ?????Third World

I know the track at 52:21 too. I've got it on 7" somewhere.

  • 57:08 Explosive Corrosive Joseph ?????John Schroeder

    thank you

  • I really got into FANIA after hearing Format's mix of music from the label, definitely keep an eye out for that one.

First show I ever tried to go to was Format doing a DJ set at Pressure Point in Brighton, UK, maybe 2000 or 2001 before his career took off. I was about 15 and drank a bottle of vodka (a small one but big to me at the time) and ended up, um, not being able to make it in. Still gutted about that! It did mean my first ever show was PUTS at Concorde II in Brighton in 2001 though which to this day is one of the best shows I've ever been to.

I also have a rip somewhere of Format Live at Bomb The Jazz from 2003, not sure where I got it but it's about 4 hours long and seriously ill.

  • Also there's a promo mix CD of Music For The Mature B-Boy which has an insane breaks mash up remix of Ill Culinary Behaviour. My friend had a copy from the man himself but would never let me copy it, not heard it since - I think there's two promo mixes for it too because I managed to find one once but it wasn't on it...

i would love to hear that if you find it!

  • Format is one of the best mix & live DJ's full stop & still rocks all vinyl ...just saying.
