that manfredo is cool, gonna check for that one. first thing it reminded me of was ursula dzudziak or experimental flora purim stuff. some people find that kind of scatting unbearable but i love that shit.
Couldnt immediately find a youtube, but this Oz raerity nails it:
How the fuck did you get that :jealous:?
I think the one stand out track on that was on a Love N Haight compilation. "Moving in the right direction" or something along those lines if anyone wants to preview it.
*EDIT*
Damn, knew I had seen it on youtube before. Dude must be a strutter

Yeah it's a pretty tough pull. Got mine in Shibuya Disk Union for a nice price.
That track is "The Long One". Maybe more straight funk than fusion?
This hits a whole bunch of bases. Fusion is a guilty pleasure of mine, so JLP's mid-period shit is dollar-bin gold as far as I'm concerned.
For a while I was really into his album Enigmatic Ocean. Haven't listened to it in a while, but the track Mirage springs to mind. It's an album I don't mind listening to while I read. Has a unique quality to it...
On paper I should love Thundercat but from what I've heard, his stuff lacks direction for me. The lad is a bassman but it's... Not funky enough?. Generally, bass solos are boring, 99% of the time. I speak as a bassist. And that stuff where it's just him and Chris Dave trying to catch each other out? ... Snooorefest. You playing live, you have an obligation to energise or entertain, IMHO.
Some of it is good though... that one with the vintage bikes - Fleer?

first things that came to mind

And this:
Fusion with a capitol "F"
And this one from around the same period.

Here's track one:
Normally not my cup of tea, but the kid has talent. Kind of haunting.
This clip of mighty Claude Young flipping it into an actual fusion banger is great.
talented kid. will be cool to see what he does when he comes into his own. unfortunately, this sound is a complete rippoff of this guy:
Here's one for the poast:
