This completes my trilogy of the Sylvers??? early releases. The Sylvers had the gimmick of being a singing family like the Jacksons or the Osmonds going for them, but made much better and consistent music than either of those 70s phenomena. Their rich soul compositions can best be heard on tracks like We Can Make It If We Try, Handle It, Stay Away From Me, and Love Me, Love Me Not. Even the ballads such as I???ll Never Let You Go are good and I usually don???t go for those on records. And don???t miss out on the afros on the front and back covers either. Why the one sister didn???t go for the doo I don???t know.

    Wow...I just found this record last Saturday but it was sleeveless. VG but I've managed to clean it up a bit before I ripped a few songs into Serato.

    CRAZY GOOD album, and after a couple listens I think I prefer it to the S/T.

    The real question though.....anybody on the Strut have a spare Sylvers II jacket?

    Took me a long time to finally have this record in my life (beat-to-shit copies/horribly overpriced copies), but when I finally did, I was really happy. Great vibes, great sound.

    I think that picture above originated the famous SS "Thumbs Up".

    Only saw this record once in Philly. I wish I bought it.

    Only thing Sylvers S/T has going for it is the far more superior "Fool's Paradise".

    I still haven't found this in the field yet....and to be honest I haven't heard the album, I usually wait before I find it to listen to it (in most cases)...if I listen to it before hand, i'll end up buying some repress and paying crazy money for it....I am so done with represses!

    Fantastic album! The 'love me love me not' is like a Prince 1987 cut. The whole arrangements and production, everything is on point. Love it!

    One of those few you can judge by the cover. W/ Jerry Peters and Micheal Viner producing, Harvey Mason organising the percussion and a brother/sister sextet who's group harmonies are among the best in the business you've got a Goat on your hands for sure. That said 1 and 111 are killer too.

    Well, i just reminded me of Prince's music in an associative way. I'll try to pinpoint my associations.
    It's the song writing, the soul/funk with guitars thrown in, the chord changes, some of the vocals and just the 'lightness' of the Love me... Track.

    Furthermore, the melody on (love me..) at 00:05 reminded me of the melody that can be heard on Computer Blue, at 00:15 (couldn't find a youtube clip).

    That's all, it was an emotional association, not a strong resemblance, i know. Remind me to make a stronger case when Clinton or Sly enter the SoulStrut top 20.

    This record is great, glad it made the list. The 1st time I went to Philly (say that like I go there often haha) I met the homie Froz 1. He had a few copies and gave me one. Very dude of him, if you're reading this thanks! Always finds it's way to the turntable a few times a year. This def got ripped and dropped to start sets more times than I'd like to admit:

    great lp as are the other 2.
    took me awhile to cop all 3.
    it's only appeared in the field 2 times for me
    the pressing must have really been limited and had poor distribution
    i've heard joe jackson did underhanded things to keep the sylvers far and away from the jackosn 5's turf and success.
    Olympia and chamaine sure were pretty young ladies.
    on that note it's hard to not think about foster being a convicted pedo nonce.
