These are from june. All field finds, the Harold Vick and TNTH are store trades.
Was surprised to find that Sumy album (modern boogie/funk from Surinam, left from Starpoint) in the field for dirt!
These two were nice finds recently. The African record is from Kenya and from 81. Funky modern Disco sound. Real clean copy too. The flyer has drawings of all the instruments they used: Kalimba, Balafon, Nyatiti, etc.
The Rideout record is a great modern soul cut from the Bay Area.
i think in my 10 years posting here, this may be my first "finds" post. Thank you, Iphone!
picked up all of these for $1 each out in the field over the long holiday weekend.
Most psyched about the Steve Allen and The Penguin Cafe.
And the Cryan Shames-Synthesis is really growing on me. Has some Zombie-like moments that are getting better and better with each listen.
Hit up all the usual spots as well as two new ones.
One was a "hobby shop" that only opens at the weekend (pm me for info) the other was a dealer's lock-up.
Bought loads of great stuff, plenty of trades and quite a few keepers!
The first two pictures came from Record Friend. In the past I've not bought a vast amount here, however, they have a sale of new stuff on at the moment. If you're in town I would go and check them out:
Shiva's Headband - Psychedelic Yesterday - no idea what this is going to be like, got a strong feeling it won't be for me.
Marvin Holmes & Justice - Summer of '73 - Super rare and expensive funk LP that has eluded me so far. One of the few of these reissues I'm planning to keep. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxA6tQKXJ2o
The Aranbee Pop Symphony - Today's Pop Symphony - Well known round these parts I'm sure!
Names and Faces - One of the hardest to find (in my experience) and best Surinam funk LP's. Versions of Mr Big Stuff, Shaft and a Santana Melody amongst other things.
Jimmy Rusca - Sex Symbol - Interpretaions of classic Italian themes from 70's sex films.
Hal Galper - Inner Journey - Jazz on the Mainstream label that had eluded me so far.
Jazz Meets the World - Well loved on here by the Jazz Heads. A compilation of some of the best tracks from the series on Saba. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xfPFpl30us
Adria International - This looks like a cruise band LP. Version of the Get Carter classic 30-60-90. Put another track (Poppin) on one of my Funk Around the World mixes.
Rene Van Helsdingen - Piano - Great piano led groove jazz. Recommended!
The Girls from Bahia - Revolucion con Brasilia - This is beautiful. Am I right in thinking this is the Quartetto Em Cy in an earlier incarnation?
that was the most well annotated finds post ever!
hows the tony sherman slippin into darkness?
i had never heard the knef before...really diggin it. sounds kindof like "be thankful"

jealous when people find Coffy!
I like the Jae Mason and Blue Cheer joints posted too, along with too many others to name in Rock's stack.
Peace,
Big Stacks from Kakalak
The Jae Mason was a pleasant surprise...and the Lucifer on Invictus is hot!
You're right, although some might not like the lead singers voice.
Warhol pays the bills..
This 3.5' x 4.5' monstrosity hung in Oklahoma State Prison for many years and is about to hang in my house...
