Sought after jazz funk album recorded 1972 in Germany, arranged and conducted by Serbian maestro Mladen ???Bobby??? Gutesha with band, orchestra and choir. Towering anti-war statement and a tribute to Martin Luther King, rooted deep in funk and spiritual symphonic music, mixed with Balkanese, Yiddish, German and Spanish sounds. Solo vocals by Jimmy Woode Jr. (!), plus Leo Wright (sax/ fl), Rick Kiefer & Milo Pavlovic (tr), Jiggs Whigham (tb), Siegfried Schwab (g), Ingfried Hoffmann (org), Jean Warland (b), Branislav Kovacev (dr) & Tony Inzalaco (perc)

Roskow, could you give same background info on this release? Was it previously unreleasd? How was it unearthed?
How did the musicians react, when they heard that this will be rereleased?

Mladen Gutesha...... Born December 16, 1923 in Sarajevo / Bosnia.
He studied on the university for Music in Belgrade for five years. In 1947 he founded Jazz Orkestar Radio-Televizije Beograd, which he conducted till 1953. He moved to Germany where he played for US-soldiers what brought him into contact with Benny Goodman. He started to work for german boardcasting organisations like SDR, HR and NDR. He leaded some studio orchestras and came to work with Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett and Egberto Gismonti. He also teached on the Swiss Jazz School in Bern.

I found this LP maybe 12 years ago in a 2nd hand shop overhere in Berlin. And after years standing in my shelf, Ekki of Sonorama Records had an interest to reissue this very outstanding german album.
I was really happy that someone finally had an interest into this very undiscovered and rare LP, that not much people knowing about.
Mladen reacted quite well after asking and telling him to reissue this album.
