I'm all for celebrating the life of Rosa Parks and what she meant to the freedom struggle, but seeing a Apple logo on that photograph turns my stomach a bit. Is that really necessary?

There seems to be an implicit suggestion that both Rosa Parks and Apple Inc were "Thinking Different" in comparable ways. This is not so....

I was thinking the same thing but I give respect to Apple for setting aside space on their hugely popular site to pay respect to her. It's something microsoft.com, yahoo.com and google.com haven't done.

IMO she should have been honored like this before her death.

  • not cool.

But, by using their slogan and logo - a historic event WAY before Apple was slanging iPods is now an advertisement for products that have no relation to Civil Rights. The most dignified way to pay tribute would have been to do without slapping their meat around in the process.

It could've been worse...they could've superimposed an iPod on her lap.

i am sorry but it really bummed me out last night watching Game 3 and they showed BARBARA BUSH during the moment of silence for Rosa Parks.

yeah let's honor a great icon of the civil rights movement by showing a woman who said that black people were actually better off in the astrodome post-Katrina.

Jeah, I wish Barbara wasn't even at that game though so I wouldn't have to look at her mug in the background of every batter.

Regardless, I'm glad they had the moment of silence.

    not cool.

The last time I was in Atlanta, I overheard three striking things:

    1) MacNeal and Niles on the smoove-jazz station.

    2) My dad brokering mortgage deals on his celly with his back turned to MLK's tomb.

    3) Teenage dude checking out a photo of young Miss Rosa at the museum down there and declaring her "a quality piece."

    Bonus Beat:

At the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, where they have what I think is the actual bus, there's also a letter or a recording or something from Martin saying that, in all his life and all his travels, he never experienced the kind of hatred he did in Cicero, Illinois. Chicago, damn.

And Apple can fuck the fuck off.

I agree, this is a low low move. If they had did this before she passed, then it would be a different story (kind of).

I thought they saved a little face with Aaron Neville following the moment of silence (and Lou Rawls in game 2, right?) but that was the mlb's call, not Fox.

Oh, and Apple should not put a logo on that picture or begin to suggest there is any relation between Ms Parks and them. Its a shame the line between honor and exploitation is so thin.

"Ermm...let me see...I'll just superimpose this logo above Ms. Parks...and bam - there we have it!"

(there were no red flags raised in this process?)

if you are "left wing" than how did u hook with a "right winger" and how long did you keep your politics secret from each other, this just sounds mad lame

She wasn't right-wing. She just lacked convictions. I never kept my politics secret, that's why it didn't last.

And I'm not on some hippy left wing shit, straight Trotsky style. Except I don't wear olive (Seinfeld what?).
