I was just puttering around on ebay and found this seller who is selling a two-volume "Black Music Book" that focuses on 1977-87. Combined, the two books are over 3,000 pages long . Seems like it might be worth the $70 he's asking. Anyone seen these yet?

guy on ebay selling the book

Edit: I just realized it's on CD, not hard copy.

  • The whole "black music" thing is a little disturbing. Does this scenario ever happen anywhere in the world?

dude 1: What kind of music do you listen to?
    dude 2: "black music"!
dude 1: yeah me too! like jazz, soul, R&B, hip-hop, reggae, electro... okay just about everything...
dude 2: we should write a book called "black music".
dude 1: It would be pretty big...
dude 2: totally! Then we could follow it up with "brown music" and work down shades up to "white music".
dude 1: then when you put them on your shelf it will look like when you open a fresh box of crayons!!
dude 2: but first let's focus on 1977 to 1987, for no real reason.

I found an ebay auction the other day with a huge disclaimer, and one of the things it said was something like "I won't list a LP by white people as 'funk'". My personal take on it is that people in countries with primarily white people get a little freaky when talking about racial issues.

  • But seriously, anybody checked it out?
