I picked up an LP by him a few weeks back and it's been blowing my mind. This one is called "solo percussion" on CSP and it's got a black cover with white graphics. Looks to be late 70s from build quality and the pic of him in the upper-right corner. He plays drums against echoplex'd tape loops of synthesizers, marimba, vibes, tabla, "live bicycle wheel" (?), bells, "prerecorded whale tape", homemade bass, organ, tuned glasses rubbed with fingers.... you get the idea. Kind of terry riley meets andrew cyrille. Beautiful and meditative. From searches I found he is aka Robert Pozar and was the drummer on bob james' ESP LP. Active in NYC for some time. Anybody have more info on his solo albums? I need more Pozar!!

  • Sounds like I need to add that record to my want list.Thanks.

  • Pozar has an LP on Savoy as well.
Can't recall the title (sold it ages ago) and too lazy to Google it.
Not a bad LP, it's in the same Bill Dixon-curated series as the Marzette Watts, Charles Moffett, Perry Robinson, etc.

  • Thanks for the info dante!

I poked around and I have an LP by bobby naughton with him on it from 79. Not as good as this tho.
