Scratch sound question (Fearless Four / De La Soul related)

I always wondered what record was used for the scratches in the track "F 4000" by the Fearless Four, the ones that De La Soul prominently sampled for "Rollerskating Jam Named Saturdays" (after the Instant Funk intro). It's either Crazy Eddie or Davy DMX on the cuts, assuming it might even have been a contemporary record of the time, but not sure. Did anyone ever figure this out?

  • i know both of these records came out in 1983 so i'm not 100% sure, but to my ears it sounds like it's the b-side of 'Hashim - Al-Naafyish'. the word "It's" from "Its tiiiiiiiiiime". you could probably ask Krazy Eddie himself on fb or instagram if nobody figures this out

edit: i don't think it's Hashim but it does sound like something along those lines. definitely interested in this thread though and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this
