What are people doing for X-Mas this year?
I'm returning to England for the first time since last Christmas and quite looking forward to catching up with friends & family. My mum's house in the country has a fireplace and the thought of cozying up in front of that with a good whisky is something that can't really be replicated in Barcelona.
Aside from socialising, missioning it to a cinema for Star Wars is my other objective, no idea what ticket availability will be like.
This year I hope Santa brings me some English course books and advanced grammar by Murphy.

I just passed my ITIL exam for work and I'm officially on vaca til the new year, so I'm in super chill mode.
I have my IMAX Star War tix (Not opening night though).
Family obligations will keep me from seeing The Hateful 8 on 70mm for Christmas day.
Other than that, I'm looking forward to eating all the good things that pass my way.
- Late add -
Leicester over Chelsea. Merry Christmas ***Single tear with a smile***
21st, band Xmas beers and Byron burgers.
23rd old works Xmas curry at Dishoom from 12.30pm through all day and night.
24th kids party at work, then beers from about 4 til whenever.
25th work - Japan has no respect for our heathen holidays.
26/27 kids weekend.
28 back to work.
Sigh. Got 1st Jan off though.
Several parties to attend, yada yada, but I'm really just looking forward to being in veg-mode tbh.
For the first time ever, no gifts will be exchanged between the wife and I, and it's a wonderful relief. It was at my insistence. I'm just sick of the consumerist shit.
That said, I am looking forward to seeing my kidlet fully enjoy the holidays now that she's old enough to mostly know what's going on.
Had one team Christmas meal last week where I got first pick of the lucky dip pressies. I studied the wrapped packages as would a hungry cheetah weeding out a crippled foal - I thought my selection, in mass and size, was a bottle of something nice.
You can imagine my dismay upon tearing the top of the wrapping and seeing that it was three books. Followed by crushing disappontment that they were the "50 Shades of Grey" books. I did the charitable thing and gave them away :clicks fingers: like that - my piss just falling short of boiling point.
AND there was no alcohol as the big cheese was around and it was officially company lunch time. And this is Corporation Tax time, so taxman has cleaned I out like so many Hatton Garden trekspassarz.
Kids are 13 and 6, 13 year old is NFL mad and I am trying to get a certain fellow strutteur to come up with the goods in the form of a Seahawks poster from a vendor who won't ship internationally. :racist graemlin: 6 year old is mad for the Star Wars - easily done.
Mrs is getting boots and some clothes from a wish list. Not going crazy after said dinner-mashing from tax.
I am getting bike lights - make benefit visions of Christmas future

I'd love to be able to contribute something interesting to this thread but the truth is my xmas will be pretty boring (by messageboard standards). I'm hanging with the extended family in a beach house into the new year.
b/w
One man's mundane is exotic for another. Beach house doesn't sound too shabby.
That's very true Duderonomy. It's my partners family and there's about 20 people crammed into one house. Kids running around from about 6am every day and the usual family relationships to "navigate". Truth be told it's not very relaxing. The water is the saving grace though.... so unless bad weather or bluebottles I should be straight. Beer also helps.
