Bombing in Thailand theories?

I've been to Bangkok many times, and normally I would say this is something the anti-junta government separatists would do to hurt the government's bread and butter which is tourism. But I don't think they would try to mass kill their own citizens too, and this was a well planned large attack ala Al Qaeda when they blew up the dance club in Jakarta in 2002. Even scarier is they found two more bombs on the BTS Skytrain. My gut feeling is that it's related to Islamic extremism. Right now Southern Thailand on the border with Malaysia is the danger zone. That whole region down there is a powder keg waiting to blow as Islamic radicals wage jihad on the Royal Thai military. You couldn't pay me to travel down there right now. Really sad because Thailand is a beautiful country with awesome people. I'm actually kind of glad I cancelled my Thailand trip this October. I think I'll go to nice,safe Hawaii until things cool off instead.
