I found these last fall at a NYC flea market. Can anyone tell by the plates what country this is? The guy looks an important African Ambassador.

    Raj,
    The big clues are:

1 - The "with roni?" poster int he background
2 - The registration tags and license plates on the cars.

Cant make either of them out too clearly off of flickr, so you may need to get that magnifying glass out to solve this mystery.

"KONY"? haha! Off the top, it might be an old advertisement for an alcoholic beverage (something like "Live Life With __!" and a woman in red striking a pose...I dunno). I'd ask someone at The Nethercutt.

Except none of the vehicles in RAJ's photos display the type of code you linked to.

The RG on that one plate is an unrelated marking that has nothing to do with country of origin.

    Cool photos though!

Koni make shock absorbers, so the poster doesn't narrow it down.

British-r: UK reg and the cars are right hand drive so either pics taken in some former colony or probably over here. Maybe he's just on a day trip to a museum?

Looks like that to me too... Might still be an ambassadeur though.

    Looks a lot like:

1960s-1970s government plates from South Africa.

Looking through other African countries it looks like some iteration of plain white text on a black plate was common in multiple different locations around the mid 20th century.
