It is too bad MJ was not here to work on this. His instincts for what made a song good were the best.
Would he have opened with those 1962 sounding strings? 80s finger snaps? Throw back disco sound?
Probably not. He was more of a what's happening now guy. I think.
For sure there would have been more layers of vocals and they would have been a lot better.
DJ's, will you be playing this?
Will we hear it on the radio?
I like it. But, def the backing track could have been better. I like this better than the Bruno Mars joints this seems to modeled after. Who produced this is the real question.

Isn't this "new" one just a Thriller-era demo that's been tarted up a little? I'm quite relieved to discover it's not completely horrendous, though I'm unsure how necesssary the JT feature is beyond the obvious commercial aspect. Still, we can't act like we didn't know something like this was coming eventually.
the eq on the vocals on the new version isn't doing it for me. and i think the Chic-isms is a bit played out 2014 (unless nile is actually involved... even then).
but i'll bet there's a couple of joints on the new album that are good. the song at the start of this video is promising:

Feel good joint like Kanye's "Good life" that will be dropped everywhere...
