It may take a while to adapt to all the inside jokes, but you'll grow to love us.
Herm
are you the dj who spins at the utrecht record fair ???
No, unfortunenately I'm not. I wish though!
I heard many good things about the fair? I did some research the other day, but I didn't find out, when it is happening this year?
Can you enlighten me?
peace
this years fair will be november 19 & 20
(early admission $$ on the 18th)
It is the greatest in the world !
anyone who has been to austin tx or wfmu nyc fairs,
this one is 5-6 times bigger (& better)
600 12 foot "booths" in the music hall
+ dealers with records at many of the other
thousands of booths in the multiple halls
and as a bonus, halls of antiques & collectables
to distract girlfriends & wives
also good drink, food & smoke,
every record european dudes bought in the states are up for sale,
killer exhibits (in the past including
dr buster dynamites 200 raerest ja records from 1950-1980,
biggest dutch dylan collectro's collection,
posters & print from the netherlands summer of love,
beatles merch from the day, etc)
well miked live performances
(the opposite of the FMU experience,
my fave was a half hour glenn matlock acoustic set including
his pistol's tunes, small faces & monkees covers
& then getting to hang & talk with him for five minutes)
autograph sessions & records so old yet new & different,
do like i do, spend all them ebay fees
on a ticket to the mega fair for some serious hands on
strutter party @ booth 388 !
Thanks, mate, I appreciate it...
You from the region?
i travel far for this one
I went in the Namur flea market two weeks ago.
It wasn't really great for the records. Lot of wax but usually very bad orchestra compilations.
I went in Anpwert and Brussels too.. I grabbed huge records some years ago for few euros (France Gall Zozoi, Nilovic Funky Tramway, Yamasaki LP..), but now all fellow diggers who went there told me this cities are dried!
Any advice for good places for records in Belgium, any advice for good flea markets?
Peace and by the way: parles tu francais?
Greetings, yes I speak French as well as Flemish which is mother language.
I don't know about the Namur Flea Market.
I visit this place in Antwerp regularly called 'Record Collector', it's like a labyrinth of records, you'll get lost... They have it all. I don't much about flea markets though. In Brussels, there's this region between the 'Bourse" and the "South" where there lots of record shops, I visit them, but I seldom find rare stuff.
But then again, I'm very selective in what I pick up, so I might leave lots of rare gems for others...
A bientot!
Hope you enjoy your stay...
I am a huge fan of your country???s beer. I spent a three hour lay over in the airport in Brussels and I have been hooked on Belgian beer ever since.
This is in fact where I find all the rare I talked about.. Record Collector is incredible...but probably too well known now..
As for Brussels, Jukebox is a good place for time to time. The guy is a little bit lunatic but use to have some niceness..
Portes toi bien.
