Kanye claiming his second verse on New Slaves is the greatest verse ever..........whatever, I'm more interested in what immediately springs to Strutters minds as the best verse ever?

This was the first thing that popped into my head......a million other verses have come to mind since but this was the first.

    Something like this?

The man at hand, to rule and school and teach
And reach the blind to find their way from a to z
And be the most, and boast the loudest rap
Kane???ll reign your domain! (yeah kane!)

I know this is probably not a popular opinion, ...but im having a hard time coming up with a verse that goes harder than verse 2 of new slaves right now.

My favorite Kanye verse of all time:

    "You know white people/
    Got money don't spend it/
I'd rather buy a hundred gold chains and go ignant"

Btw..... New Slaves goes hard as fcuk, imho

    "Yo RZA, yo razor!
    Hit me with the major
The damage, my Clan understand it be flavor
    Gunnin, hummin comin atcha
    First I'm gonna getcha, once I gotcha, I gat-cha."

First one that comes to mind.

2nd that comes to mind, probably the illest ever.

    "I bomb atomically, Socrates' philosophies
and hypothesis can't define how I be droppin these
    mockeries, lyrically perform armed robbery
Flee with the lottery, possibly they spotted me
Battle-scarred shogun, explosion when my pen hits
    tremendous, ultra-violet shine blind forensics
I inspect you, through the future see millenium
Killa B's sold fifty gold sixty platinum
Shacklin the masses with drastic rap tactics
Graphic displays melt the steel like blacksmiths
Black Wu jackets queen B's ease the guns in
Rumble with patrolmen, tear gas laced the function
Heads by the score take flight incite a war
Chicks hit the floor, diehard fans demand more
Behold the bold soldier, control the globe slowly
Proceeds to blow swingin swords like Shinobi
Stomp grounds and pound footprints in solid rock
Wu got it locked, performin live on your hottest block"

This whole song is my favorite and to be completely honest, it makes me a little teary-eyed at times because it hits very close to home:

I'm also a big fan of this one. I absolutely LOVE how he weaves his verse into the chorus, like "16 bars? Sheeeeit...I'ma keep going 'til I'M done."

Kanye's second verse on New Slaves is not the greatest verse ever.

I guess the obvious needs to be stated: Kanye's name has no business being in any discussion about greatest verses ever.

Yo, uh, it's Task Force Tuesday, the NARCS is in the black car
I got fine hundred, hundred packs in my backyard
Clear twelve-twelve's, that look like stuff shells
I'm cuttin' niggaz throats on the sails, while they puff L's
Don't leave nothin' unbagged, shave everything
I learned from the O.G.'s to save everything (to save everything)
They come by one more time, they gon' hop out
They two deep, and one is a bitch, she gettin' knocked out
Then I can get rid of the pack
but I just copped this pretty chrome thing, so I'm dippin' with that
Uh, down-shiftin' on 'em like I got gears on me
(Run!) Besides that, I got about 5 years on me
(Run!) Scared to death, runnin' like I got bears on me
(Run!) My Timb's start feelin' like they Nike Air's on me
(Run!) It's hard for me to slow down, it's like I'm on the Throughway
My belt's in the crib on the floor by my two-way
Now I'm try'nna hold my hammer up, and my pants too
If they don't kill me, they gon' give me a number I can't do
Rather it be the streets, then jail where I die at
And I'm ashmatic, so I'm lookin' for somewhere to hide at
But they too close, and I got this new toast
'Magine if I would of let off a shot or two, you know what I gotta do

Impressive how Kanye pulls off rhyming with same word so often.

  • I am Posdnous
I be the new generation of slaves
Here to make papes to buy record exec rates
A pile of revenue I create
    But I guess I don't get a cut cuz my rent's a month late
Product of a North Carolina cat
... scratched the back of a pretty woman named Hattie
Who departed life just a little too soon
And didn't see me grab the Plug 2 fame
As we go a little somethin' like this
    Look ma, no protection
Now I got a daughter named Ayana Monet
And I can play the cowboy to rustle in the dough
So the scenery is healthy where her eyes lay
I am an early bird but the feathers are black
So the apples that I catch are usually all worms
But it's a must to decipher one's queen
From a worm who plays groupie and spread around the bad germ
    I cherish the twilight
I maximize, my soul is the right size
I watch for the power to run out on the moon
    (And that'll be sometime soon)

Almost always sounds better than it reads, by miles and miles.

Cosign. I can only imagine what a forum of rappers posting their best rhymes would be like but really though - more than 2 bars = Too Long Didn't Read.

Kanye has a lot of great lines, verses, bars but I feel like he's always his own biggest cheerleader. Which is to be expected I suppose but for someone that obviously seeks attention he does not seem to handle it very well.

I'm a fan of Kanye's art and whit but I also can't help but feel he hates you, me, and everyone outside of his inner circle.

Kanye is greatest New Slave ever.

Hard to take his rage against the machine very seriously when he is an active participant in it, on its payroll and that it gives him the forum to have his tantrums, in rhyme or otherwise.
    Righteousness doesn't suit him.

Not even a fan of rapping Kanye, but I do think he owns the I Don't Like Remix

They smile in my face is what I don't like
They steal your whole sound, that's a soundbite
The media crucify me like they did Christ
They want to find me not breathing like they found Mike
A girl'll run her mouth only out of spite
But I never hit a woman never in my life
I was in too deep like Mekhi Phife
In that pussy so deep I could have drowned twice
Rose gold Jesus piece with the brown ice
Eating good, vegetarian with the brown rice
Girls kissing girls, cause it's hot, right?
But unless they use a strap-on then they not dykes
They ain't about that life, they ain't about that life
We hanging out that window, it's about to be a Suge night
Free Bump J, real n***a for life
Shout out to Derrick Rose, man that n***a nice
Shout out to L-E-P, Jay Boogie right?
Chief Keef, King Louie, this is Chi, right?

Clearly Kanye can't tell his young black actors apart.

I've heard - and it seems like a reach - that he's referring to some other movie's sex scene that Phifer did in which he went in too deep for the lady's comfort.

Guys, I think Kanye was referring to Mekhi's role in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

Ye's got some good lines, no doubt. But a whole verse? Best ever? Don't think so.

This one has always got me:

Visualizin the realism of life and actuality
Fuck who's the baddest a person's status depends on salary
And my mentality is, money orientated
I'm destined to live the dream for all my peeps who never made it
cause yeah, we were beginners in the hood as five percenters
But somethin must of got in us cause all of us turned to sinners
Now some, restin in peace and some are sittin in San Quentin
Others such as myself are tryin to carry on tradition
Keepin the schwepervesence street ghetto essence inside us
Cause it provides us with the proper insight to guide us
Even though, we know somehow we all gotta go
but as long as we leavin thievin we'll be leavin with some kind of dough
so, and to that day we expire and turn to vapors
me and my capers-ll be somewhere stackin plenty papers
Keepin it real, packin steel, gettin high
Cause life's a bitch and then you die
